  • Heres my attempt to make the most random post in the forum today.

On the door on the left when you come out of bricklane bikes there an sticker

"clear your mind, put your vote where it belongs" and then a picture like this

I love it and want one for my letter box (hoping it might cut down on the amount of politician leaflets crap it always seems to be full with)

Anyone know where it comes from?

  • no, but voting is non-compulsory here. seems like that sticker is unnecessary.

  • [rant to ballot spoiling folk]

You spoilt twerps! Dont know how lucky you are for the privilege of democracy and non-corrupt government.

Are you familiar with any history or world affairs? We are very very lucky to have what we have. If you do not like the political system, get into the system and change it.

You wont get murdered or put into prison for doing so or having radical political ideas.

If you dont vote it just means you are secretly tory like your middle class parents brought you up to be, you think it makes you a really cool rebel anarchist to "spoil your ballot" but youd never be able to bring your tory heart to vote for somebody else or actually get involved in politics.

    [/gets off high horse]

  • My pictogram is better.

    Reformist.

  • Imagine you live in a country where there's only one party...
    I've been there.

  • Agreed, not voting as some kind of a political statement is lame, ineffectual and deluded (nothing personal OP!). The parties are different (from each other), they have different policies, and whichever one gets into power will implement policies that affect us all. Politicians are not 'all the same'.

  • My pictogram is better.

    Yep. Much.

  • Not after a poetical debate - just want a sticker

I am familiar with some history of democracy.

Started in greece i think - who voted to go and try and destroy the Persians .
Then moved to Rome - who voted to and wipe out carthaginians (succeeded)

But the main highlight of this great system at work must be when the Germany - voted in a bloke called hilter who decided to try and wipe a few million jews,

America's Harry S. Truman deciding to Abomb thousands of Japanese women and children is another example of this noble system at work.

But of course all other systems are far far worse - according to this one anyway.

"History is written by the winner" - now wheres my sticker?

  • This man is obviously an ungovernable dissenter who has no place in our progressive democracy.

    I vote we kill him.

  • DFP: "Non corrupt government"!!??

Where the hell have you been the last 6 months. They all have their hands in the till.

  • this thread is fucking stupid

  • "Where can I buy an anarchy sticker?"

    What's wrong with that?

  • Buying stickers, isn't really anarchic.

  • The reason the government gets away with thsi shit, is because people dont bother to vote, or get involved in the political process. Instead of getting a sticker, get involved

  • Vote, Vote, Vote, VOTE...... and don't come complaining about the result if you don't!

    Ohhhhh that almost rhymes.

  • "Where can I buy an anarchy sticker?"

    What's wrong with that?

what's wrong with it? it's token anarchism.
these anarchists are quite happy to take from a democratic society as and when it suits them. healthcare/sanitation/infrastructure/education/ability to earn a wage/ability to travel relatively cheaply/freedom to sponge of the state when it suits them et etc.

why not buy a Ché poster or t-shirt instead? it's just as lame.

you can get 'no junk mail' stickers for your letterbox.
or just laminate a bit of card and stick it to your door: no hawkers, canvassers, traders or salemen. no freesheets, flyers or newspapers

  • I'm a poet
    but I don't know it

Roses are red, violets are blue,
    Some poems rhyme,
    But this one doesn't.

Sorry - I'm just having a moment, forgot to take the medication....!

I should have put a winky smile thing on that because the points above were what I was driving at.

    [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Society_of_the_Spectacle[/ame] and all that...

  • Start a facebook group for overthrowing the political system. Much better than a anarchy sticker to give yourself a sense of "edgy" smugness. Who knows, with the power of viral you could achieve pretty much anything. Even beating Simon Cowell to christmas number 1.

  • But the main highlight of this great system at work must be when the Germany - voted in a bloke called hilter who decided to try and wipe a few million jews

Hitler never attracted more than about a third of the vote in Germany in a free and democratic election. I've posted something quite long on that somewhere, can't remember where. Please don't perpetuate this myth. The reasons why he came to power are very complex and actually mostly have to do with undemocratic processes.
