Hmm, I was hoping for a track frame, and ideally London based, but I'll think about that.

Might be worth a look.

Check the crank length and bcd suitability for chainring options. -
• #5
Cheers, that's more like it.

what sort of bcd should I be looking for, for a polo chainring?
That looks like a sugino messenger to me, so I assume it's something standard.
-

110 bcd

Well, he says it's 130, which doesn't surprise me.
I guess I might be able to find a 38 tooth chainring for that, otherwise I'll just have to get new cranks.

saying that, even if I just go with a 42 tooth chainring, I can get a reasonable polo gear with a 22 tooth sprocket, right?
then at least I can get a smaller sprocket on a flip flop hub, for a non-polo gear.

polo bike???? forget non-polo gear
42x22 is 50gear inches, way to high
you need something between 40 and 45
have a look here -

I've got a slightly bent road frame and forks (+bb but not headset) that I'm willing to give to anyone that will play polo on it. 58-60cm, long horizontal dropouts... I think it's rattlecanned black was mrlemons before me.
Top tube is slightly bent.

I did see that thread, and saw that 50+ was the top end, but yeah, I guess I should aim for the average of that.
cheers.

Ah, If I get a 25 tooth sprocket, I can use the 42 tooth chainring I have on my langster (which I'm going to replace with a 47 anyway), which should give me 45 gear inches.

Be careful with sprockets that large.
They have a tendency to strip hubs due to the amount of torque that can be achieved. -
• #15
There should be a few sprockets going spare as some people switch to freewheel.
Moog will be selling his old polo bike soon - it's an old MTB frame hack (too small for you a bit) and fine for starting out and getting on the court.MTBs, FGFS trick frames, and road/cross frames (find a used pompino ir something?) are popular atmo.

In a couple of weeks I'll have a 56cm Fuji Track available (but they come up a bit small). It's an 06 one I think, stripped (some sparkles on it), nothing bent or crash damaged. Needs a new headset at some point but it's not vital.

Does Joe even play polo?

Of course that's a false economy if it does strip the hub, and I end up having to replace it all anyway...
but thanks for the advice, at least I can't say I wasn't warned ;)

I've got the frame, cranks, chainring, front and back wheels (missing one spoke), headset and stem.
So if anyone can help me out with anything else, that would be amazing.

.
After playing polo for the first time this year last night, I want to build a bike so that I can finally start playing properly.
I'm looking for frame or anything up to a complete bike for Polo.
I'm 6'3" so anything from 56cm upwards.
I don't really want to spend much more than £100 on the frame, obviously more if it's not just the frame.
If anyone has anything they are willing to sell, please let me know.
In the mean time I'm looking in the classifieds, and on ebay.
