Absolutely magnificent phenomena - not had it for years though. If I remember correctly Newt Livingston monkeyed around with the phasing to stop this being a possibility on a lot of the old trunk roads.
Years ago, if I waited for the lights to turn green at the junction of Battersea Park Road and queenstown road and rode at exactly 58mph, I could surf the green wave all the way to London bridge. Almost.
(on motorbike at some ungodly hour of the morning......etc)

I'm pretty sure Tower Hamlets council have rigged it so every light I ever come to is red.

That's funny because the only reason I started the thread was I had a pretty good Green Wave from Elephant and OKR today and it brought back the memory of the full one I got

There are no traffic lights in my home town.

Funnily enough it happens to me more now that I don't jump reds anymore. So stopping at one red often means that the rest of the lights will be green. But then again I like stopping at red lights. Practicing patience, innit.

Once got it on the way to work Peckham to Westminster. Even in the middle of very busy rush hour traffic I was clear at all junctions and roundabouts and managed the 5 miles to work in a hair under 17 minutes.

With the exception of the shitty little crossing at M&S in Brixton and the lights at Waterloo Bridge Rd & The Strand I had a lovely ride in today
Streatham Hill - The Strand in 20mins :-) -

How nice has riding north on Waterloo Bridge been the last couple of days? Lovely bit of tarmacing that is.

It is amazing how a little bit of new tarmac can bring a smile to the face. Top of OKR to Elephant. Waterloo. Waterloo bridge. Dreamy dreamy..
I got 8 green lights this morning before I had to foot down at New Cross Gate.. Becoming an obsession now.

I had about 90% Green run today, the problem with this is I have a 15mile east to west commute each way. I appreciate a few red lights now and again.

haha! I had this once in 6 years in London, I know what you mean - you start to cheat tho and slow down hoping they will change and you get your green wave again

About fucking time eh! The tarmac along Waterloo Road itself was redone recently too. Pancake flat black tarry goodness.

I only deal in facts
A phenomenon which has only occurred once in my 21 years of commuting in London whereby I have caught every traffic light green. Thus making it home all the way without stopping, trackstanding, RLJing or any other kind of footdown. And I wasn't rolling up to lights either. It was a straight ride home. It was a sweet ride and by the time I got to Lewisham I thought Buddha must have been smiling on me. I've come close a few other times.
Anyone else?
