Yes. Fairly rare, but not into hen's teeth territory.
Dunno if they're still made, but you could in theory cut some threads into a 1" threadless fork with alu steerer... waits to be proved wrong
Otherwise it's a case of going to a couple of jumbles. I nearly bought a set for the novelty value at a herne hill jumble a while ago. I'd have a close look at them though, I'm not sure how sensible it is to be buying/riding old carbon forks.
Hope this helps...

Giant started with 1" steel threaded steerers in TCR series
Nice replacement forks for older steel frames (although a steel fork is also fine). -

sort of related question: can you get 1" threadless full carbon forks?

Ah ok, so they do exist but likely to be old and fooked. Does anyone know if threading a 1 inch threadless alu steerer would be ok?
-
• #8
I wouldn't take the risk.
Cutting threads is weakening material. Like making cracks. If it's done in a controlled and quality controlled environment (by design, in a decent workshop/factory) it could be okay.
But a 1" steerer has an outer diam. of 25.4mm and an internal diam of 22.2mm, so ther's not much material left. Doubt if that can be done with alu. Not talking about cut threads yet... -

Thanks for the advice Dutch cheese. I'll have to find some smoother roads then!

Why not go the ahead route? You can still find 1" threadless forks and headsets without a problem.

+1 to that.
Thanks pifko for the heads up, those forks have about a billion dibs though. I'm going to wait till I have money and pimp out my tarck bike with a nice threadless headset and some forks.. too soon/expensive now though

Because I'm a tart. It's got full old school DA with downtube shifters etc so function is taking backseat somewhat. It rides so much better than expected though I thought I might be able to tweak it little to suit. I'll probably keep it as it is and look into a newer Cannondale in the same vein.

Eastons are very modern looking though, you can get Columbus Minimal full carbon forks which are a more classic shape. £175 mind....

I don't think we want to know what you do with your wrists it's not the porn thread lol.
Just been out on the Canondale I bought for training and it rides really well, accellerates amazingly, but the alu forks are bit harsh.
I'd like to keep the quill stem if possible so does anyone know if carbon forks with a 1 inch threaded steerer exist? If not what are my other options - would carbon bars do essentially the same job?
