The fire at the paddington BT exchange

  • Is this making anyone elses work hell still?
Yesterday was such a pain and it looks as though they are still having connection issues.

  • Don't know about that but the problems at the gay exchange are really putting a kink in my solo dumb-bell dancing schedule.

  • Fire? I heard it was a flood.
    Just asked.. and a fire.

  • It was a leak that started a fire that was then turned into a flood by the fire brigade...

  • A bloke told me down the pub last night...

  • There was no fire. Leak on Marlyebone Rd filled car park adjacent to Telephone Exchange, when car park full, water flooded in to sub basement levels of Burne House, smoke from engine room full of water set off fire alarm and shorted power. Without power telephone exchange no work no more.

  • Yeah, well the notice one of my colleagues put up only mentioned flood.

I'm assuming since there's a whole thread on this, the Paddington exchange is some major phone thing?

  • Not really, it would be far worse for London if we lost the exchange at Whitehall or Westminster. They're all pretty important.

  • Datastream service outage affecting upto 37,500 circuits.

it's knocked out the connection for some payment processing companies to the bank.
it's cost us and alot of other people a large amount of money over the last day.

  • And on the last business day of the tax year too... Diddumz... ;]
