I'd love to. Have we had a 200k mainstream forum ride before?
-
• #3
Cambridge for me a couple of years ago was 200k
I'm keen thought, possibly geared though(t)
-
• #4
Yes, but will we find a supermarket to divert you from to go on the ride?
-
• #5
L2B has always been 200k+ for me. DD is 200k too.

If it's in the summer and we shoot anyone that turns up with tubs/risers/spoks/lacking tubes/bald tyres etc.. we'll be ok, right? does calculations shit a forum ride of 200k will take 2.4 months!

A summer 200 should be possible. On normal form, if I went full out, I'd take about 7 1/2 hours riding time for that. Add in two breaks of maybe an hour (which is an incredibly comfortable way of doing it), and you only get to about 10-11 hours max with a slightly slower group. As long as everybody knows the schedule and has decent equipment, hopefully mechanical stops should be rare. On the last Brighton overnighter, I think we only had a single puncture. We could also split up into differently-paced groups.

why would you want to stop for 2 1hr breaks? it's only 120 miles half hour food and stretch break at about 80 would be more than enough.

I'm in... Live in Norwich so would have to train to LDN first! Sounds good.

Flat pretty much the whole way. 190 KM and this is a lovely route.

As I said, having two breaks would be 'an incredibly comfortable way of doing it'. :)

Why not stop for two, one hour breaks? If you're not in a rush what's the problem?

Find me a forum ride that has got anywhere NEAR that average speed.. and I'm not talking about the Drag Sprints either :P

1hr stops = proper cool down, harder to get going.
I personally prefer shorter stops and none if I can help it.
I'm flexible with this kinda thing though. At the moment I have a tendonitis issue to sort first :(

I expect there are only a few people on this forum that could keep a 20 mph average over 200 k fixed.

The key to long stops is to stop at the top of a hill, then it's easy to get going. It may be a problem to any hills in E.A though.
Anyone up for around 200k ride to Norwich?
Train back or I might do the tourist thing and stay a night to wander around.
Just a feeler for it?
