probably not... :)
have a look at the sjs reccomendations though, there seems to be some pink tape that looks good from a glance -

Thanks, but shes seen the Cinelli, SRAM and Shimano tape IRL and finds it too bright. sigh

Does the bartape have to match the tyres? You could try matching a different part of the bike to the tyres, one thats easier to find in the same shade of pink.

I tried convincing her that white would be a better choice, but it didn't work.

It's time to re-evalute your relationship then.

Match the saddle
Unfortunately, she has a Grunge saddle, which matches the tires perfectly.. :-(
Now I also found the Lizardskins, which is damn expensive, but also looks like its a match!

For some reason my post appeared twice.
This is a good chance to point a couple of things...
Pictures on the websites can differ from the actual colour, because of the
- colour saturation
- white balance setting
- because they do
I'd take the acyual tyre to the shope and see (misspelling preserved to prove, that a I've just had a bottle of merlot).
- colour saturation

Match the saddle
thats the rule
the halos will loose the 25% of their "darkness" in a month or so, depending the sunlight that
will be exposed. I will choose cinelli.
Try lizard skins, they are at least 2 stops darker (in photo terms) but they
are so comfortable and anti slip.if rubber pista grips are acceptable will be a good choice.
(probably two in each side) -

What is it with (some) chicks and the colour pink?

Pink is a light red (warm colors both that raises intensity)
very common "tool" in cases that you need a permanent loss of energy.
When you raise girls for example, you need it to restrict the intense
that has as a normal kid and help her build and express a sweet girlie character. To us it work as a camouflaged red, we don't recognize it as a red and take our precautions
while it's working slyly taking small amounts of energy and make us inactive and vulnerable. Most healthy women like pink unconsciously upholding their character, that doesn't mean
that they can paint pink the whole bloody planet of course. -

And this is why my daughter is banned from wearing pink. Pity my wife doesn't stick with that rule and bought her a pink Raleigh bike (I quickly replaced it with a wooden balance bike)

Pink used to be the colour for boys until quite recently, and blue for girls. See Pink Stinks campaign for more dull details.

cant believe this thread. You're building her a bike and she's complainig about colour matching?
As has already been said:
the tyres will change colour over time.
don't ever match colours based on a web picture. The colour calibration will probably not be accurate on their end and unless you're rocking a mac pro with a calibrated Lacie badboy on your end then you're not seeing the colour as it should be anyway.
-

Just tell her to stop worrying about it and ride her bike.
Work fine on the missus' track bike, she's no longer fussed about the colour choice of her bike.
I'm so glad she doesn't like pink.

you sound like a persuasive man Ed. I may get you to pop round and tell my wife to stop worrying about a few things if it is that easy :-)

That is exactly one of the reasons for my thread. Maybe someone tried the same thing, and found a spot on match tape.
Another problem is that I live in Copenhagen, and the obvious choice of LBS (Track Bike Shop) doesn't have any pink bar tape, so it pretty much has to be bought online, and therefore from a picture. -

Note: The tyres will probably change the colour after a first ride, not over time. Most probably to a grimey pink.

I sympathize you, if you ever need a battler that cooks Mediterranean food, servicing bikes to the metal and matches colors with a doctoral, feel free to inform me.

Doubleplusgood LOL... "Thick and Zesty"???!
Hilarious.
"Long and Jurassic".
I'm currently building a pretty damn pink bike for my girlfriend, but she keeps bothering me about the bar tape not matching her tires.
She has Halo Twin Rail Courier tires in pink. They look like this:
Its a bit darker pink than the normal pink bar tape I've seen around.
The only bar tape I have stumbled upon in what looks to be closer to the same colour, is the Soma Thick & Zesty Rose Pink. (bottom right corner of the picture, surprise!)
I can only find the Somas in US based stores, which will end up costing a fortune including shipping and taxes, so that is a no-go for me.
Has anyone had luck finding matching bar tape for the pink twin rail couriers?
