For Sale: Mavic wheelset 650/700c + C-Record mech

  • As a part of the major re-shuffle and gearing up, these are for sale:

    [strike]1. Mavic Mach 2 CD2 wheelset - 650c front and 700c rear, tubular.[/strike]

It was for sale before, but I've done a stupid thing and fell over. Brake pads picked up a shard of glass and scratched the front wheel.
Apart from the loooong scratch, the wheels are like new, the Campagnolo Record Pista hubs were brand new. They haven't seen much action.
Nefarious was the one who was after the wheelset before it got scratched and I' don't know if he will be still interested in it.

    [strike]2. Campagnolo C-Record front and rear derailleurs[/strike] - SOLD
Good working condition, but not needed, as I've decided to run Triomphe on the Pinarello and my other frame has a braze on and the clamp on derailleur cannot be fitted.

    [strike]3. Campagnolo Shamal 700c tubular 16h front [/strike]- SOLD
listed by mistake in the wrong section
    (original thread here

Pick up from the SE drinks (or maybe others too), drop off within London, PayPal if outside (+ something on top to cover the cost of postage which will be ca. £15 for the wheelset)

  • Tubs included in on the wheelset?

What tub is that on the rear wheel? and what's it's condition?

  • Tufo S3 on the front (these are tuff enuff). Vittoria Competition Rally (you can buy them for £14 each) on the rear. Front is worn, but sound. Rear is almost new, ridden once since fitting, but had a tiny bit of glass in it which was taken out a couple of weeks ago and it was sealed with Vittoria Pitstop.

  • Okay :) I'll be watching this thread... But actually I only need a front, and I'm a bit low on money's atm.. If I don't find anything else I may just buy it..

    Free bump for ya' :)

  • It's still here.

C-Record now sold and paid for.

  • i would take these off you as im having trouble finding a match for my open 4cd and could sell that to someone to make up the cash.
really worried about running tubs though...
    what do you think kris?

  • If you commute a lot and the surface isn't good, then go for the clinchers.

If you ride on the smooth tarmac and there's no glass on the cycling lane, then it shouldn't be much of a hassle. The cheapest tubs are around £14 + tape.
If you like to plough through the gutter and jump kerbs, then it's definitely not for you :-)

  • would you consider splitting with me and haj?
bit of a shame to split but i dont really want to sell my front clincher

  • If you both want one wheel each... well, there are two of them, so it shouldn't be a problem.

My outlook on running tubs is simple - buy the cheapest. Seal it when there's a small puncture. Change it if there's a gash. Go cheap and use tape - it's simple, cheap and quick. There's no point to spend over £50 on a tubular tyre, because they will not give you any more puncture protection, just less rolling resistance. I prefer Vittoria tubs (Rally Competion on the rear, Juniores on the front) to cheap Contis, because they are more suitable on normal roads, as you are not going to do Tour de France or go on the track. If you kind find Tufo tubs, they have proven themselves as quite tough as well, but the are completely slick, so I'm not sure how they behave when is wet.

  • brilliant
im totally up for buying just the back wheel
i'l pm haj and we will sort out payments and such

    :)

  • Second dibs on wheelset if the split does not work out posting to Ireland?

  • haj is out
anyone willing to split this with me?

  • Haj is out. Joe's found an Open CD.

The wheelset is again available as a whole. I will give it one more day and list it on eBay.

  • tuffo's are excellent in the wet, very good grip, they are nice and predictable.

if you run brake tubes are way to go... light and tough if You maintain the correct pressure, you can carry a spare tub as you would inner tube - just mount it on (not glue it) if you get puncture and glue it when get home - easy peazy lemon squezy

  • I gave the wheelset to my wife to put it on sale on eBay, so for now this thread is closed.
