out of curiosity Tallboy, can you ride a HED Jet 60 on the road?
-
• #4
yes you can- the guy who gave it to me to sell briefly used it as a TT front wheel
It's basically a regular shallow rim with a carbon fairing stuck over- much like the bontrager aeolus wheels are nowthe old zipp 404's were the same style- I used one for 3 years of road race/tt and a mate now uses it to commute on quite happily

700/650? pics?
What he said. Who was the builder?
-
• #7
700c. the builder was the owner who worked in a bike shop down near Chichester somewhere
the build is perfect- wheel is as near to true as you'd ever get, and the guy rode it himself so he will have done it properly! -

okay... still very very interested - but i would like pics. are in you london for viewings/pickup? where abouts? this thread is killing me on lack of details.
-
• #9
ooh tempting...i'll take it if blind dan doesnt pending details on spoke count and a pic
i ride a Jet 90 upfront at the mo - it is basically just a normal wheel with carbon fairing so no issues on the road whatsoever (except a bit of cross wind...)

ok here's the answers-
yes it's 700c
yes you can ride it on the road- it has a road hub and has been used for that before- like the man said, it's a normal rim with a fairing over like a bontrager aeolus you'd buy now for $1000!
it's 28hole, and it could be rebuilt into a rear road or track rim if desired
and finally..it's clincher
the wheel is in manchester and we work in manchester- but will post to londonsorry about dodgy pics- taken on my phone in office light
as there's now a few interested let's have a DIBS!

Ok.. meet you on Bishopsgate outside LP street station at 5.30pm. You can bring weapons if you want but you won't be needing them.
For Sale- HED Jet 60 Front wheel
Clincher rim
No tire, inc rim tape and skewer- OIRO £100 + postage/collect manchester
Bright yellow deep section rim with removable HED Jet decals
Campag front hub- used less than 30 miles
The rim was originally a rear wheel and then rebuilt to front so there are some marks round the spoke holes where they angle changed when relaced.
Since being rebuilt (by a pro wheel builder) the wheel has seen less than 30miles of use
Not new, not as fancy as a zipp 404 or similiar...BUT IT'S BRIGHT YELLOW
