Not sure I understand the question. You can use single gate clips too if that's what you're asking.

been told that........double straps = double power.......
Not necessary??

Using double straps would give you a tighter fit. Wouldn't say it was "double the power" though...

Anyway, enough of this trying to be helpful business. UTFS! :)

From what I can tell though, the GR9's are only slotted with one slot. So, my question is, if you use double gates without the 2nd slot, is this going to cause problems? ie does anyone have any experience of using this set up?

I used a pair of GR9's with double straps, and double gate clips without any problem

use longer bolts to fasten the cages. they will hold the straps in place

Ummar was wandering if the platform got in the way of the cage much? The bolt holes are underneath a lip which looks like it could squish your toes a bit.

that lip is not really a problem. actually i can't follow any of your concerns. everything works just fine. (see attachments)
of course the track pedals dedicated to double straps and cages would be better, but the gr9s are a great alternative to sylvan and other cheap pedals. especially because of the large tip that makes flipping the pedal to engage the cage very easy.
enjoy

enjoyAre they not weighted to always stay the right way up? Would you say they'd be a better bet than Sylvals? I'm going to upgrade soon enough.

Nope, none of the mks pedals are. Better how? There is more flat, so if you're wearing thin soled shoes they will be more comfortable, as has been said there is only one slot for straps, but that is manageable, other than that there's not much difference. Thanks for clearing that up for me drøn.

@hellomiles
I originally used them with some metal clips, and did notice that it was a bit of a squeeze on the toes. Since swapping to some plastic clips, it hasn't been an issue.@electrogrimey
Because of the large flat section they are much kinder on your trainers than sylvans or similar. Also, the shallower profile is useful in avoiding pedal strike when cornering. I find them really comfortable to use, and they feel very solid underfoot -

Agreed, I never stroke GR-9's, I like them a lot. The next model of road platform pedals would probably be white industries pedals but they're 10 times the price.

Hello!
Anyone tried using MKS GR-9s with velcro straps? Saw this and it got me thinking. Not sure how secure it would be.
I'm currently using clipless, but I despise them. Plus I don't want to carry around an extra pair of shoes all the time.
I like the idea of velcro straps as I want to be able to adjust them to use any shoes (could be anything from sambas to skate shoes) but I don't want big bmx pedals.
I have seen a couple of pictures of double straps on the GR9's, anyone got any experience of using them like that. From what I can tell, people are just relying on the double toe clips keeping them in place?
Otherwise any alternatives?
thanks
