I get the distinct impression if you were to type "paint" into the search you would find a whole heap of help.

Not that I found, actually. Basically I was asking if I strip all of the paint off it (steel frame) then will it be ok? Will it rust? Will it look rubbish? I know nothing

Yes it'll rust in time. To prevent this use a clear powdercoat or wet lacquer. This may not be quite enough to stop it rusting completely, but it'll certainly slow it down considerably. Murtle (31trum) is a veteran* clearcoater, maybe drop him a PM (personal message)?
I can think of several people who've done this, some who've left their frame untreated to rust entirely, some who've let them rust a bit then coated them and a fair few who've clearcoated throroughly with no rust. All can look cool but spare a thought for your clean trousers if you let it rust excessively. Also it'll help to have it bead/sand blasted after stripping to give a uniform finish (if that's what you're after).
*in experience, not necessarily age ;)

the coolest look this week is the 'rust rocket' look,
you have to leave the stripped frame outdoors for two years to achieve it, then build up with full Campy Record groupset, giving the distressed look with bling contrast. So hard to get, but so desirable. -

I personally couldn't be arsed with rust but whatever. Stripped, blasted and clearcoated looks slick. who had the stripped Nag with the yellow accents?
The nicest transparent finish I've ever seen up close is FBM's 'clear metallic', a glittery clearcoat. Armourtex could do something similar.

eddie, I believe. I think he got it for a good price too, as it was damaged (dented)?

I got a old alloy peugeot frame, striped it with a sander and had it powder coated black , The frame really does look mint, so happy with it. It cost me about £60 to have it Professionally sprayed which i think is a little price as it looks as good as new.
Hope this helps.

Hi guys
I'm currently building my first fixie, and I'm using an old Triumph touring frame that I bought a few years back. Fortunately I haven't grown much since then so it still fits. Anyway, Now that I've ridden it a few thousand miles, and now stripped off the gear mechs, the brakes, and the mudguards an everything, the original red paint is a bit chipped and faded. I either want to touch it up very accurately, or take the paint off. I can't see the point for a cheap conversion to pay for a powdercoat or anything. Has anybody else tried to strip all of the paint off? Does it look at all good? I'm really quite stuck about this :/
Oh and I also want to hacksaw off the redundant brake cable houses, so that would kill the paint even moreAnything appreciated

when do you recall me talking about touching up my bike?

lightly sand the whole thing with a fine sanding metal paper to remove rust and flaky paint.
Then spray the whole thing with plasticote clear varnish, to preserve that vintage look. -

no, what this forum does not appreciate is lazy assholes with no initiative who cant even use the cunting search function
idiots like you come here, ask retarded questions and then take umbrage when you are treated like the cretins you are
but you do supply some fun for us as we get to derail such threads and generally point out your intellectual ineptitude

Use the force, Luke. Use the force.
This is not the forum you are looking for, or are you the owner of one Langster? -

Yet another asshole posting a pointless reply which doesn't help me. Once upon a time I used to think the cycling community was friendly and helpful, now I realise that absolute CUNTS like you make up the majority of it. If I found anything using the search bar then I would have used it, if YOU had bothered to use it then you would know that there is nothing on this fucking website that has what I want. And yes, St. John's college graduates are well known for their intellectual ineptitude, fucking asswipe.
