26" frame suitable for fixed

  • I'm riding this as a sort of big boys bmx, off road job at the mo:

but I want to stick the parts on something a touch longer and bigger. Anyone suggest any frames that'll take a good beating - it's worth noting that most dirt/jump frames have too short seat tubes so I can't put the saddle up as fra as I need (it's fixed not s/s)

    Cheers all

  • you could try a charge stove if you can get hold of one

  • On One Slot Dropout Inbred?

They're designed to be run with a full 400mm seatpost but frame sizes go up to 20 inches and they have a longer toptube than usual XC geometry.

As far as I am aware On One have a really good reputation but perhaps there is someone on the forum who can tell you their first hand experience.

    Here's one they made earlier:

    Hope this helps.

    Charge scissor.

Loads of trick riders are moving over to 26" wheels now on normal trick/track frames. 26" wheels and some fat tyres will easy take you up to the outside diameter of 700x23c, so you won't have any BB height problems.

  • on one for the super cheap job. other wise just look for SS mitb frames which are pretty tough and bigger, ie charge, genesis, kona, even marin make make dedicated SS frames with slot dropouts.

  • I tough about the Kona humuhumuhumu job - looks like it'd handle a bit tighter which I want.

I like the idea of the scissor but I've got a 135 hub/53mm chainline which won't work. I'd entirely forgotten about On One - they are fucking ugly though!

  • How tall are you?

  • not very 5'10" but short legs so in road sizes I ride a 53st 56tt ish (tends to mean a 54 square and long stem though!)

  • Maybe try looking at something along a DMR trailstar vein. I used to use one for fixed off roading so there was decent stand over but I could still run my seatpost at the right height for correct leg extension.

I'm 5'8" and ride a 54square frame (Inside leg of 30") by the way.

  • Has anyone seen any thing like this;

No idea how it would work as a fixed bike though...

  • that's the same issue as with a lot of the bikes - seat tube is too short to have the saddle at the correct height for leg extension - you end up needing almost meter long seat posts!

  • Very true! Had failed to take that into consideration. And to be honest I find very low slung mountain bike type things pretty ugly too.

  • Jus to awaken this I saw some pics of Taliban Tom riding fixed off road on a 26" frame - anyone know what it is?

  • no idea but safe to say it wont be anything bog standard....
