stick some old forks into a block of wood?

Yeah, or just sue the brake bads on an existing bike, but i wanted to see if anyone had an actual truing stand

bumping this as I'd like to get a truing stand.
does anyone have one lying around unused - something cheap that will do the job?
I've been using an old pair of forks till now but have found that when on a full laden bike even the tinyest wobbles can be felt so want something with more accurate screw guages - slightly better than paper and a good eye! I know the community workshops have one you can use but I don't really have the time to get to them at the mo.

you won't find this useful as I haven't tried the above truing stand but it does look good - report back here if you get one and let us know how it is? I need to build some wheels and I really can't be bothered with the fork/bluetack/matchstick method (which is the most accurate bodge i've found to date). And of course, that doesn't help with dishing...

If you're looking to save dollar, you could build your own stand using this Roger Musson book. Click on the links for pics.

Yeah i've seen those articles before, sadly the cost of buying the stuff with which to build the truing stand goes a long way towards cancelling out the cost savings... I don't own any woodwork tools, nor do I have any woodwork experience! I'm sure this is not the cheapest/quickest way to do things... but cheers for the tip!
Does anyone have a better solution for the 'in the forks' method than just using blu-tack and a match? I was told use the brake calipers but to be honest found my way worked better...
Also, if anyone wanted to lend a tension guage at any point, that would be lovely too
