Those kinds of maneuvers should really be done on a BMX. Normal sized wheels are too cumbersome for what those lads are doing.

I'm a bit bored of this whole tricks should or shouldn't be done on X Y and Z bullshit. Did you watch the film, naysayer? Like andypancake says, 'Fuck you!'
I personally wouldn't bother with trying to do manuals/wheelies and stuff. I'm just learning how to actually ride a bike with some semblance of skill and whatnot. Doesn't mean I think others shouldn't do whatever they want with their bicycles.
Not sure if there was any need in that film to include the 'riding fixed is this that or the other'. Even my 80 year old stepdad knows about fixed bikes now. No need to justify it, just like therre's no need to justify having fun on them.

Haha love the rich kids comments. Superted et al are really quite the opposite of that.

I ride a BMX as well as a fixed and I hate that the guys I ride BMX with seem to almost hate fixed gears and keep going on about how you shouldn't 'do tricks on them'. BMXs are great, but you can't go fast over long distances. Fixed bikes are great for going fast pver long distances, with the added bonus of being able to pop a wheelie, do a skid, through a barspin etc etc etc.
There, justification over, even though most would say we shouldn't have to justify.

Fixed gear's suffering the same more-than-just-a-thing-to-do poetic aggrandising skateboarding or graffitiing or base jumping have in the past.
My old boss felt the same about collecting Hornby trains.

There is a real thing in BMX at the moment about hating fixed gear (wich is quite odd seeing as we couldnt understand why skaters hated us, and now we are doing the same). I personly dont prefer to do tricks on my BMX than on my fixed gear, two different bikes for different things (well other than trackstands and skids). But. if people want to do tricks on any bike that if fine with me. No bike was originaly made for tricks, not even BMX's.

I watched it, but had no audio. I think the tricks those lads are doing are bit lame and little cringeworthy. The best they can manage is a wheelie and a backwards circle. This is mainly down to the bikes, only a small part of it is down to the skill of the rider. Smaller wheels are better for doing tricks on. Even a 24" wheel would be miles better than a 700C. Just my opinion, I say this as both a BMXer and a fixed wheeler.

I sort of agree and dissagree at the same time there. If you look at the Bootleg sessions and other documentaries/dvds like that you'll see there's a whole load of tricks that can be done on a fixed gear. I personally feel that I'd rather trick on my bmx, but I love the speed you can approach obstacles on your fixed gear - they're great for rolling wallrides and things like that. Also, I can't manual for shit on my bmx but, I'm quite good at wheelies and I find them fun to do.

+1, very good looking and nicely presented.

I am a little bit suspicious.
Is this going to be released on April 1st as a parody of the fixie hipster scene?

brakless spinny geared ones with risers aren't.
unless you think "long distances" means from EC1 to E2 -

Rode passed that girl on the scissor the other week (a week or so before it was released). Thought I may have been captured on film, but clearly going to fast.
Sorry if Re post.
