Sourcing a head badge

  • I'm sure it was mentioned before on this forum, but as many people attempt to restore old bikes, perhaps it's worth to refresh to subject.

I acquired a frame without any head badge and wasn't able to find a suitable one on eBay.
Also, I needed a decal with Pinarello's signature and the usual suspect s couldn't provide any either.

Then I contacted Nick form H Lloyd Cycles and now I'm a happy owner of the Freddie Grubb badge. As many decals suppliers on the Internet are either in the States or Australia, it's worth to check the stock locally first.

Now, I'm writing this, because their website isn't a shop per se - you simply browse the list, chose what you want and send a cheque or pay though PayPal. Some people may find it off putting, but it works and they're trustworthy.
I'm sure Vaz has his decals from them for example.

Apart from badges, they also have many decals in stock - much more than listed on their website, so call or email them first with your request.
It took a couple of days for my order to arrive safely.

ps. I'm not connected to the H LLoyd Cycles or anything, just want to share my experience with those, who are weary about sending money to a supplier advertised online without a support of properly set up shop.

Feel free to add other suppliers of decals and badges to this thread.

  • Good advice.

Bit like it the good old days, you phone someone up, place an order, send the cheque and two weeks later your order arrives.

  • On the other hand, I bought Campagnolo Record Pista hub from an online shop. I received the confirmation email and waited. And waited. And waited.
Then, after two weeks, they refunded the money to my credit card and decided, that the item was out of stock - knuts!

  • Yeah there's quite a few mentions of Nick Tithecott / H Lloyd cycles on here, lots of people have used him. He's really well known for reproducing decals.

    Which reminds me...

  • Fair enough.
I though, that people who don't know about him, may have some reservations about sending the money without placing an actual order - ie. there's no confirmed transaction and it's based on trust.

  • No criticism meant, good on you for starting a thread about it. It'd be good, actually, if the title included the words 'decals' and perhaps 'H Lloyd' too, so it's easily searched by others.

I was really just trying to +1 your original post. You must be pleased to get a nice brass headbadge like that.

I'm glad you reminded me, I just ordered some decals I'd been meaning to get. ;)

  • I've ordered transfers for my french track Mercier from him last week!
It's good Nuknow helped me contact him, otherwise I would have gone for vinyl cut instead... (thanks again!)

So as Nuknow advised me, if you click on the email link on the website, it seems to enter the wrong spelling in the email form. So you should make sure you write the email as displayed rather that pressing that link... I thought this needed to be mentionned!
