  • yeah, sad.someone should repaint the 'PANTANI' up on Ditchling beacon that was there after his epic sprint up it on the last visit, missed seeing that last time..

  • Remember it as if it was yesterday. Wasn't long after I got married. Actually, thinking about it, it seems a bloody long time ago!

Prefer the Eurosport version of the events on the Galiber. Stephen Roche was going mental!

  • despite the drugs he's still a bit of a hero (to me) a victim rather than a conspirator which is why i can't put him in the same 'doper' box as armstrong and all the others.
I'm not italian so can't totally understand what he meant to the tifosi but he brought a lot of joy to a lot of people, but paid the price for being a vulnerable and addictive personality in a demanding sport.

    RIP

  • Can some one put the youtube links up as non full screen please my computer does not like it full screen. Thanks.

  • Currently reading Matt Rendell's biography of him, he's certainly an intriguing character. Unfortunately I never saw him in action 'back in the day', but I'm *always *impressed when I see footage of him.

    RIP Il Pirata

    Trouble in paradise?

    ;-/

  • Indeed his passing was very sad, i saw him go up Alp D'huez a few times 'effortless speed' he just zoomed past us.

  • sad end to an amazing rider. interesting article on his steed...gagging for a replica building me thinks:

  • Pantani was like Anquetil or Coppi, flawed and yet he exuded something that you couldn't quite put your finger on. I accept that some of my heroes were drug takers/cheats and yet somehow they have an aura that the sterile cycling of Indurain and Armstrong could never replicate.

  • pantani has always been one of my favourite riders

    RIP

    Different drugs...

  • Flawed but a very good cyclist....saddened to hear of his death but the decline was quite marked even before he died....Now There is a warrant for his arrest for case of computer hacking into the French doping authorities!

The 1998 Tde F was specicial at the time....but now a bit tarnished...and that is sad because we loved him because he was Pantani.....RIP!

Indurain was and remains an honourable and decent man....he was a winner and never had a bad word for anyone.....he oozed respect...something very few other cylists can claim...ever!....I loved watching him because he was the master.

  • He was also doped up to his eyeballs with EPO. Very honourable.

  • Was Indurain clean? I genuinely ask.

  • No. He was the first Tour winner of the EPO generation.

You appear to be mixing up Floyd Landis and Marco Pantani. Landis is still very much alive.

  • Haha

Pantani is a git. Hordes all the coke and I'd smoke him up hill any day. Pfft

  • Dead men don't hack.

hmmmm given the choice.......i would prefer if Pantani were still alive!

  • le sobjonctif était utilsié tres bien ici! bien fait!

Where is your evidence? Did he ever fail a test? Same goes for Lance!
