Puppy slaying?

Posted on
  • I've got a dilemma. I have a pair of cinelli criterium track bars and was think thinking of chopping and flipping them for bull horns. Would that be an absolute puppy slaying, or is it generally acceptable?
    Advice please?

  • They're only bars, treat yourself.

  • doodle

  • If you want to chop some bars the old TDV had tonnes of bars left over last weekend. you could get some of those and chop them up without any guilt.

  • They sell for a fair price, why don't you keep or sell them and use any old bars to 'chop and flop'? Or do you think the criteriums will make particularly good bullhorns?

  • damn, thought it was a post about blood sports.........

  • no idea.
i was going to put them on maxcrowe's old bike (i bought it), the eddy merckx-which-isnt-really-an-eddy-merckx-but-might-be.
i might go with loafheads idea.

  • I've never used bullhorn/pursuit bars before, but I can only imagine road bars make for a better 'flip-n-chop' conversion, as there's more of a straight, flat surface on the top and a straighter section to the 'horns'.

Although I'm fully aware I may be talking shit.

  • sell them and buy bullhorns, though why anyone would want to is anyone's guess...

  • i'll give you a pair that i've flopped and chopped if you like?
pm me if you want them.

  • It OK, you can come out now. Thanks skoota!

because from experience they have found them to be the bars that suit them the best? crazy idea, I know.

  • if they are track specific ie stamped 'track'...
it would be a shame to cut them as they are becoming scarce.

I can swap a pair of 'normal' crits or have a really nice pair of 3ttt that are factory flipped (3ttt cow horns) with tape, with a nice pantograph on the bridge.

  • you can tell by the number if they are criterium or track bars.
criteriums are 65 - 40 (or whatever length they are) and
track are 67 - 40 (or whatever length they are)
aslo it depends if they are the old crest logo or the newer one that just says cinelli criterium. if its the old one i wouldn't cut them.

  • Wait until the RSPCA finds out!

  • if they are track specific ie stamped 'track'...

The clue is in the name, they are criterium bars, for crit races, so have a track-ish bend but for a road bike.

    They are 65-42 criterium bars.

Don't cut them Alex, you could get about 20 quid for the crits then just buy some Profile Airwings.

  • cut and flipped bars are useless.

Yes, though there are several versions of crit bars...aren't there?

though what I should have said was are they stamped pista?

and if so then as I agreed with you, it would be a shame to cut them.
