Bad dice. I hope everbody is fine. Could this be a 'sharing bus lane' accident? I know I've had a couple of near misses with our motorised cousins.

I rode past an incident this morning on Vic Embankment, a stone's throw from where that poor girl died last year. Eastbound lane closed, a police car and an ambulance, but nothing in the road, and some other cyclists looking not-particulary-grave.

Did I misread the situation, or did I see a separate incident in the same place on this bad day for cyclists?

I saw this also on the way in, same as what Crispin said, but I couldn't figure out why they closed the road.

I'd like to think it's your paranoia. Most motocyclists have far better road sense and general awareness than car drivers simply because they are almost as vulnerable as cyclists (arguably more so at speed) and have to develop such a sixth sense in London traffic to stay out of trouble.

However, this is a separate issue.

Thoughts to both riders, hope they're both OK.

I'm a motorcyclist as well as a cyclist (I love 2 wheels) and generally motorbikers are far more road aware than motorists - motorbikers have even greater risk of injury than cyclists. Mostly due to careless motorists. There's something about 4 or more wheels...
