Saw Jerry Sadowitz at the weekend, it was equal parts hilarious and offensive, two people sitting in the row in front of us didn't even crack a smile for the whole 100 minute duration!
Apparently he was going to get another series on channel 5 but they pulled the plug after he uploaded a picture of his cock onto his website! Was recommending him to a friend recently - know anywhere you can get DVDs of his stuff? Amazon only has one old VHS tape as far as I can tell (for 35 quid!)

Russell Howard is very good as is Alan Davies if he ever returns to the circuit.

There is almost nothing recorded from him apart from that one VHS as far as I'm aware, he seems to keep a total lock down of anything that pops up on the net too.

kind of redundant but i would have loved to see bill hicks, george carlin and lenny bruce
-

Bill would have got everyone rocking and riffing together,
George would have cussed the whole gig down,
Lenny wouldnt have given a f..k..
maybe. -

I saw John Cooper Clarke and Frank Sidebottom at the Bloomsbury Theatre at the weekend. JCC was excellent, his act is more anecdotal stories than poetry now and despite being ill he's bloody funny.

I went to see Stewart Lee in Greenwich the other day (got off my fat lazy ass too late to book for the two months he was in Soho).
Pretty awesome stuff.

My sister saw him in Brighton a few weeks ago, and ironically the comdey festival was sponsored by magners, so he had to do the whole show on a stage with a big magners banner behind him! hahaha.

A huge chunk of his latest show is about magners and their advertising campaign

Russel Howard is bland yet smug. WHy? I hate all these comedians whose only joke seems to be funny juxtapositions, a common one being posh people talking street or visa versa. Also young comics talking about how funny something their mate did is.
stuart lee is top

I don't find him bland or smug. There's quite a few good socio-political observations in his material making fun of the madness of how our society works. If he does anecdotal material it's usually about him and his family but again often observational. I can't say that I've ever heard his posh-people talking street. Mind you, it's difficult to talk street when you have a broad west country accent so maybe I missed it. His stuff on Mock The Week usually keeps me laughing though.
Russell Brand, now there's someone smug and bland. Definitely wouldn't pay money to see him.

They are a little bit freaky, mind you, comedy is more than just about the eyes.

Can't stand Michael McIntyre either, his hair puts me off

I had a 'comedian' having a go at me at a show once, just because I didn't laugh the all time. I was in the 1st row.
He was rubbish, then decided to make me the laughing stock of the room, dbl fail.Anyway, Superdecided just made my week by posting this.
I swear I had some wee drops in my pants after watching it the 1st time.
And he's NOT a comedian, he's a 'beatboxer': -

Doug Stanhope anyone?
Stanhope is great, hope to catch him live at some point.
don't think there is a thread on here for standup.....
Been to a few gigs recently, Stewart Lee's latest tour was great as always. I'd love to see one of his now incredibly rare appearances with Richard Herring, though I might die from laughing....

Richard Herring and Tim Vine next weekend, should be fun.
