If you get metal toeclips try and get the ones with two long bits instead of one in the middle.
Most metal ones have a single "strap stem" (I am making up terminolgy now) while all plastic ones have two making for a wider more secure grip with non cycling shoes. And doing fixie-skidder shenanigans.
Nylon straps slip and loosen themselves more easily.
I prefer plastic, because they are much cheaper than metal ones of similar robustness, plus they dont make scrapey noises when dragged on the ground and they dont dig into feet.

Try both and see what works best for you?

picked up some plastic double toe clips. now just need some straps. cheers for info peeps.
whats stronger in terms of keeping it shape under pressure and keeping you foot close to the pedal:
a pedal with a plastic toe cage and a leather (or synthetic leather) strap
OR a pedal with a metal toe cage and a nylon strap.
I'm guessing the former, right? I've tried the plastic toe cage and nylon strap combo and that was like cheese.
p.s. this is for a polo bike. thanks.
