I quite like Crank bos stuff, mainly as Its usually rebuildable. The directset does away with the top and bottom of the headset are machined to act as bearing races. This removes the need for upper and lower bearing cups. They claim that this saves weight while not affecting durability.
Having said that, I echo Mrsmyths recommendation of a Hope headset. Really well made, rebuidable, and the 'headdoctor' headset adjuster is the best that Ive used so far.
