it would work, but i have a mixture of bits, 9 speed chain and rear mech. cassette re-spaced from 8 to 9 speed 'ish. so i would still need a 8 speed rear mech...pm me with a price and i can mull it over

on campag i think you can get away with a 9pd rear mech on 8spd cassette, i do! Although i seem to have 9spd cassette, 8spd shifters, 10spd rear mech and only 7 working gears!!

i have 8 speed indexed d/t levers and i think the pull of the 9 speed rear mech is differenr, so i can't synchro the gears very well - had to go back to friction.
and if i can get 9 speed it will 2future proof" the bike a bit more. -

How cheap are you after? I've a set that are OK, I'm thinking of upgrading. 25quid ?

chaliapin - thanks for the offer, but i think i would prefer to stick to 9 speed just incase i do actually need to change my rear wheel in the future.
anyone else got anything?
dipping my toes into ergo's - looking for at least a right hand ergo...or if the price is right a pair.
on a budget so mirage or xenon - functionality is what i am after, if they are scratched i don't mind
