dibs if this is 700c?
-
• #4
Anyone know if this would have been 27" or 700c being as it's from 1974?
-

no mudguard eyes and shallow rake on fork probably indicates it was built originally for sprint rims (tubulars) making it the same as 700c....

Hi Fraser,
Any chance of a photo of a 700c in the forks?
Very interested.
Thanks.

MIssed out, that is a lovely frame.

Yeah, well pleased, now just got to deal with N+1

Lovely, Bigben. Those forks are elegant, stays are nice too, transfers are in great nick. Time to get the touch up paint out.* Looks tight.
*but if you repaint, Nick Tithecott has the right decals for the Seat tube and fork, and a DT one that are in the same font as those, but not the more square ones on there now.
PS don't fancy a Royce rear hub from the late 70s / early 80s, 126 screw on with original Royce skewer, do you? It's at Royce just now being restored a bit, missing springs and collar in the axle, otherwise in good used condition.

Cheers Skully,
Think I'll try and resist (for once) my temptation to meddle and build it up and ride it, always a good strategy with a bike of course.

Just to add tuppence, that is such a good looking frame, I bet that (pardon the pun) rolls so well...utter retro bargain.

Just seeing this has got me dying to get mine finally fixed. Goddamn being skint.

Usually I see a frame on here, procrastinate and then it's gone. So glad I just dived in this time.
Thanks to all for the nice comments which of course just make it nicer. Just loving the decals.
So, now decisions decisions decisions, geared, fixed, ss? Think I'll build it up with whatever is around (which likely means SS) to try it out and then see how it rides. Def going to (finally) be silverware with minimum black.

I got my BJ for a little more than that. Paint in much worse condition. 531c bikes of that size are very comfortable. If it's as easy to get the decals as has been said I'd PC it. last forever.

so much potential, well done.

This is for sale, I'm afraid I just can't squeeze myself down to it, damn shame as its really pretty albeit a bit scratched up. For sale for the 60 quid I paid, I'd rather avoid shipping, so collection from east beers this week?

dibs - checking with my bro

Checked - too big for him, sorry

this looks lovely. I'm guessing that it wouldn't be suitable for building up as a geared bike? lack of braze-ons and cable guides and all. will be interested if it is.
-

mmmmm....temptation...temptation..what should i do? price drop? :)
-
• #22
I'll take photos of the cable runs but wednesday will be the first chance I get, it was geared and hasn't been messed about. I'm not dropping the price, I paid 60 and it was a real bargain, I already have a request from a non London forumenger so if nobody local wants it I'll pack and post.

Additional photos and cable braze ons etc.
If no local takers its off by post.

Which reminds me mine's about to come back from Argos ... woot!
FOR SALE: Geoffrey Butler road frame circa 1974, 60cm c-c and 57cm toptube c-c 126mm OLN. Reynolds 531c tubing incl forks and Tange headset. This is a nice, clean sound road frame with no braze-on cable guides or downtube bosses and so would make a great, simple fixed-wheel conversion. Paintwork is original, but scruffy. £60.00 or offers.
Can collect from Fleet, Hampshire or I'm in central London on a regular basis.
