French thread, the nightmares.help please

I bought a frame not knowing it was french thread until i went to put a new bb in and it didnt thread in. so had to use the old bb cups, replaced bearings and changed the axle from cottered to square spindle. only thing is now the drive side cup dials in too much so that the lockring wont grip on enough keeps coming loose no matter how much i tighten it. Any ideas or suggestions would be great? fairly reluctant to buy a new frame

Beware the French Bike with the Swiss BB.

Swiss same as French but fixed cup is left threaded unlike French fixed cup which is right threaded.

Ah hell yes.
French is annoying enough to discover. Especially when you have a nice track frame with no name on it. grumble Phil saves grumble

3 of my bikes are French and I think they are 35x1? Thread is sometimes written on the cup face. Worth checking!

Also have you considered keeping it cottered? Has a certain kudos these days especially if the frame is a good un.

sausage fingers: the frames not that great cost me £30 so tryna get a cheap solution, and ive already swapped out the spindle to square taper, just need something with a longer middle section to move out the left cup.
