• hi im looking to build up a fixie as cheaply as possible so if you have any old parts you want to get rid of id be happy to take them and if needed pay some money.
I live in hampshire so of course would cover postage.
of course most important is the frameset will pay decent amount but just need a cheap 58cm frame
wheels would pay more if have flip flop hub but any usable wheels will do
and other parts not so bothered as long as they are inexpensive
if anyone has a cheap full track/fixie bike in a 58 i will also consider buying that
    thanks,
    craig

  • are you reasonably good at bicycle mechanics?

how do you know your frame size is 58cm how tall are you?

i dont have anything,, just asking to enable people to get a beter idea at what they can or should offer you.

  • ok sorry should have mentioned more i am 6foot 1 and ride a 58cm road bike i am decent at bike mechanics and have a friend that works in a bike shops so i can borrow tools from him.
However i don't have that much money and this will be well looked after but well used.

  • thanks coppi that

  • no noone has any parts they want to be rid of?

  • It's only been 40 minutes...

  • ok sorry im just new to the forums and very giddy and got into checking every 5 minutes i dunno what im expecting

  • how cheap are you expecting? possibly best/cheapest to buy an old road bike with horiz dropouts, remove all surplus parts and then get a track hub and build a new wheel.

    this method will cost <£100

  • go to thread tools and choose the option of subscribe to thread-instant email. that way when and if anybody replies you will get an instant notification.

  • Patience is the key to any successful tarck build... Confucius said that...

  • thanks velo libre can pay bit more than £100 but if i dont get many replies i will do that. thanks again coppi that very useful

    ^ he is right.

If you get all the parts individualy I think you'll be very hard pushed to do it under £200... even with freebee's....and assuming you don't get carried away...which you will..

....and the bike you'll end up with won't be any different from a full road bike converted.

Just have a quick think about the total number of parts on a bike and what postage will be on each part.

  • fair enough i was hoping there would be certain people with the majority of parts
anyone with parts still post but added on to this if anyone has an old road bike in a 58cm il have it

  • Yeah, get off yer fuckin' arse and source some shit for yerself... No offence like...

  • Speaking of arses and shit...

...mine's dirty, can someone pop round and clean it for me?

    Cheers.

  • Just believe in the power of AngelPoo™... No need to wipe ever again...

  • i got a road bike off ebay for £60, an on one hub to open sport rim should cost (£15 hub, £20 rim) £50ish, less if you build it yourself, kmc chain <£10, sprocket off here for <£10, job done.

  • thanks rik but i live in fareham sent seller a message dunno whether he will post or not i hope he will.
    regardless you are a god
