One of my favourite quotes...
"While packing for the trip I'd made a rushed decision to try a somewhat unconventional sleep pad, reasoning that if it flopped I'd only have to deal with it for one night. As I stowed sleep gear back on the bike I ran through the physiological checklist to find all systems feeling fine. No kinks, no sorenesses, and zero recollection of tossing or turning through the night. The only conclusion I could draw was that the sleep pad was all that and a bag o' chips. I rolled, stuffed, and delicately packed it while softly whispering "You've been promoted, dear" -

@ jv A little bird told me there's a pugsley going cheap (soon) at a certain bike shop... Can't help you with finding somewhere to ride it though.

It's quite amusing seeing how little interest there was on here in bikepacking and off road stuff when I was posting about guys like Mike Curiak and John Stamstad almost a decade ago. :)
I'm glad that has changed over the last few years.
Mike Curiak is a legend in the endurance biking world...If you've never heard of him i strongly suggest you read his blog as it contains some of the most inspiring articles and photos i've ever seen.
He's been testing out equipment throughout this year for a new epic he's planning.
Here is his report on the Arrowhead 135 race from earlier in 2009...Make a cuppa and enjoy reading.
