Word, just looking at the DAS stuff, they give a choice between 2, 3 and 4 day courses, is this something they'll advise on or do you choose based on your experience?

i think it would be a combination of what your instructor sees as your ability or your honesty with yourself as to your learning ability and yes experience. if you have been riding for a while i guess there would be bad habits that need to be smoothed out.
i often see riders pull away from lights with their balancing foot dangling above the ground for maybe 70 metres - i wonder if an examiner would frown upon this. i always want to shout "lift your foot up!" -

The people I am doing mine with offer a three or four day course and will usually advise over the phone. I'd say it's better to go for the four day course to make sure you're ready, rather than only doing three days and failing.

You gonna garage it?
Nope. Not got a garage. It will be kept next to my car, behind my space at my block of flats. It's under cover buy anyone walk there.

Yup. It's also pretty practical. The fuel tank is under the seat so the large bump where it should be is actually a full face helmet store. It also gets around 70mpg even when really going for it.

:-)
The odd thing about the NC bikes are that the red line is at 6k. It's much more like a diesel car in the way that it should be driven; lots of torque in the low revs etc.

Did you consider a second hand G650GS ABS?

• #5318
Sounds like a BMW. More fun that way.
-
• #5319
No. I really like the built in helmet storage, H.I.S.S keys and the look of the NC700S.
There's no doubt the engineering in the BMW is superior but it's not for me.

Hey guys quick question on insurance on a scooter I'm thinking Third Party Fire and Theft is sufficient starter insurance? Any thoughts.
Bike is worth just over 1,200
-
• #5321
Mine is currently covered with TP, Fire & Theft.
-
• #5322
Hey @Zed that's what I went for. My bike is worth about 1200 quid and the excesses quoted were so high it didn't seem worth it going for fully comp.

TPF&T should be ok. Gives you a big motivation not to make mistakes anyway. At least you're covered for theft which is a big risk with scooters. I claimed against a theft 15 years ago, nothing since despite having a few incidents along the way (Still fully comp insurance though!!).
So i'm still waiting for my Mod 2 test date...
I might have ordered this today though:
