Bolivia

  • Eric Parsons from Epic designs in Alaska has been off riding his bike again on another amazing tour...this time to Bolivia. http://www.bikepacking.net/forum/index.php/topic,536.0.html
As usual his report and pictures are amazing...he's kept it fairly short this time though as he's intending to publish his full account of the tour and i for one can't wait.
This trip was his girlfriends first bike tour, and what an introduction.
He was treating it as a kind of experiment to see how light he could keep his setup, using his own bikepacking bags that he designs and makes.

I hope you enjoy reading, but here's a couple of pics to give you an idea...

  • nice one Scott.

  • Raw I'm gonna give it to you, with no trivia
Raw like cocaine straight from Bolivia
My hip-hop will rock and shock the nation
    like the Emancipation Proclamation
Weak MC's approach with slang that's dead
you might as well run into the wall and bang your head
I'm pushin' force, my force your doubtin'
I'm makin' devils cower to the Caucus Mountains

nice post will be sure to read.

  • Man that look fantastic.

  • Im heading that way in April, coca leaves for thought. Thanks for sharing.

  • Be careful - Bolivia has some fantastically dangerous mountain roads. A friend of a friend was killed there.

  • You can cycle "the most dangerous road in the world" near la Paz, the capital. Over 3000m downhill over 80 odd kms.

On iPhone so this link probably won't work

I didn't get a chance to ride it, but would love to have a go. I did meet a guy who came off near the bottom and smashed his face up though...

While in Bolivia, go to Uyuni and do the 4 day trip on the salt flats. Amazing. It is like another planet. We saw people out on bikes in ghe middle if nowhere. Looked very challenging. Sandy surfaces and lots of dust.

  • I cycled down that, its amazing 6hrs cycling downhill!

  • Did four weeks touring in Bolivia just two months ago - On One Inbred, panniers and a £25 tent. Uyuni salt flats are awesome

    sounds amazing, any snaps?

  • Most dangerous road is awful. When you travel on a bike you don't bother. There is so much more to explore without the lunatics behind wheels (or handle bars since most backpackers seem to want to go down there) There is an off road version, though.
