I'm still 50-50 on this but it's possible that I'll be riding to Brighton on Saturday 19th December.
%22%5DThis is the route I'll be taking.[/ame]I haven't checked the route yet but it will go through the usual back roads (Turners Hill, Haywards Heath, Ditchling Beacon etc).[ame="http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/82189"]This
Most likely setting off around 9-9.30am from London Bridge.
I'll be riding fixed (70.6 gear inches) rather than the roadbike but am aiming to keep to a decent pace.
N.B. This is not a ride for brakeless riders. Though achievable brakeless (I've done it myself) the conditions will not be ideal and I do not want the added risk of having a brakeless rider along with me. -

Nice idea, Em...

Be careful on the way out of Caterham, as that was where a bunch of us stacked it on black ice in early Dec '08. There was absolutely nothing we could do to avoid it, apart from hippy, who was so far behind us, he had time to witness the human dominoes and stop - but nearly stacked it trying to pick us all up.

Cheers Teenslain. It was probably overdue as these kinds of rides usually go unmentioned on the forum as it's more hassle to start a thread than it's usually worth.
Bring, cheers for the headsup.

I'm riding from Acton to Kew in 20 minutes if anyone wants in?
Should take about 9 minutes, I'll be doing it fixed and with braklessness
-

If you can hold on at your office until I get there I'll ride with you. My phone is off and I'll be on my bike so without internet. Just stay at your office until I get there. You can hold your breath too.

So is it going to take 20 minutes or 9 minutes? You're confusing.

Good idea for a thread, Object. It reminds me of someone at school who was, shall we say, not the most adventurously-minded person. Another friend suggested to him to make a quick last-minute booking for the holiday they wanted to go on together three months from then. Cue reply: "OK, let's check out the last-minute offers tomorrow. Are you free in the afternoon?"

Your school chum, let's for the sake of argument call him "Oliver", is an idiot.

nice idea em. be good to have a thread to just pop in and see last minute rides. particulary at this time of year where you have to do things more off the cuff.
-
• #17
Cheers Jonny, I'll make sure I throw up anything that I'm considering.
Likewise if you could do the same I may actually get to put some miles down with you before the year is out. -
• #18
Judging by the waether forecast I'm not going to be making the trip this weekend.
Will put details up next time I decide to head down there. -

Might as well put this thread to use.
Chiswick/Kew Bridge to Black Heath tea hut.
The weather is pretty good today and possibly not going to last and I need to stetch my legs.
I'm leaving work near Kew Bridge at about 5.30pm this evening and riding to the Black Heath tea hut.
I'll be on my winter hack road bike and want to go at a reasonable 17-18 mph and company would be nice, so if you wanna come meet at 5.45 at north side of Kew Bridge or I will pass the ICA steps on the Mall/ corner of Horse Guards Parade at 6.15/20ish and could meet there. Then on for a nice cuppa at the tea hut. Before heading toward Hackney.See you if I see you.

If anyone fancies a ride after the Jumble Sale on Sat I'll be heading out to ride the [ame="http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/376788"]North
%22%5DNorth London Hills[/ame]. Leaving, say 11am.
It's 40miles, some hills. I'll on gears but would be fine fixed.
This is a thread for people who are thinking of last minute rides with minimal notice.
Basically if you're doing a ride in the next week and want to offer up the opportunity for other people to tag along but don't ahve the requisite time to sort out a proper thread/list etc.
