  • I must have been delirious with hunger. Just walked into Evans instead of marks and sparks thinking "I'll just see if they have a 56cm Fuji Track to try out"

Walked out having put money down for said bike, a 70mm stem and lo-rise bars. Also got a dirty harry lever and 105 front brake. I know I could have saved on parts, but they had good discounts plus -10% on parts and they'll fit it all ( which I'll then triple check )They also said if I find better prices on anything, with proof they'll refund the difference.

    The bike itself was £339.

Brake = £30 (sure I can do better)

    Lever = £11

Stem = £ 24 , some Race Pro brand, looks strong, functional
Bars = £ 22, race face evo things...

The thing I need to get is an 18t sprocket but the didn't have. I can sort that.

So I have lost my mind, can't decide if I have had a lunchtime win or a massive fail!

    good times.

  • sounds like a nice treat! Good work.

  • Easy way to tell if it was a good idea:

    1. Is it a bicycle?
    2. Do you like bicycles?

If the answer is yes to both of the above then you have done well.

  • I've got a 3/32 18t Surly cog at home... You wan?

  • I've got a 3/32 18t Surly cog at home... You wan?

Why yes, that would be very appreciated. What would be the price?

Ha ha, yes it's certainly not a crappy sandwich.

And I like geometrically fashioned metal objects

    Tenner?

  • Sounds like a lunchtime win to me!

  • stop you're making me feel hungry

  • I dropped into Condor to see if they had a Campag front mech clamp in 32 mm and Greg sold me a used one for £4. Result.

Not as nice as a new bike though. :-)

  • Actually, just thinking a little. I'm fairly certain the front chainring is 130bcd. Hmm, maybe I can just put my 44 on there...

  • fuji tracks come with 1/8" chains not 3/32". sounds like a good lunch, was the cromo tasty?

  • Just last week I went out for a roast beef and horseradish sandwich and came back with 3 Serbian prossies, 1 got fucked off (because she was 15 and I ain't in to that Glitter shit) but the other 2 got all the romance.

    Girl 1 - £80
    Girl 2 - £60
Girl 3 - £2 (bus fare back to Euston Station)

Now, I can't decide if I have had a lunchtime win or a massive fail!

Yep, was there around 1. I work virtually above the Evans store and it draws me in when I'm bored. You weren't they guy putting a kick stand on a mongoose maurice :p

Feel pretty good though, I'd rather take the bike home now and fit the parts myself but can't figure out how to ride 2 bikes home?

BTW. The sandwich was rubbish. Now I'm hungry again

  • i was the '80s detective, buying tubes and co2 canisters.
i did ask the guy behind the counter what the fuck it was.

  • Reminds me of the time i went to Fulham Evans for an Inner tube and walked out with a £1500 finance package.

    Impulse bike purchasing FTW

My mate who works at Evans told me to wait until after Christmas as the ones they are selling now will be reduced to £199.

Sorry didn't mean to piss on your chips.

Ah, yeah, I do remember. The guy serving me served you. So I take it you saw it with the massive wide bars attached? Thye will be trimmed to 410mm. But I'm keeping the drops and the stem for future use.

I dont generally like riding on drops when commuting for neck pain/control reasons.
