favourite mice pies of yesteryear:
starbuck's (shameful, i know)
pret (they're pretty good!)
st john's (until i realised that the reason they're so good is because they probably contain vast amounts of LARD) -

Best ever (packaged) mince pies were Asda's luxury brandy mince pies, c.1996-98. Combined amazingly rich filling with golden pastry, and just the right dusting of sugar.
Oh God I love mince pies so much nomnomnomnomnom

mmmmmm...... mince pies are the best thing about christmas.....
the winners are my gran's puff pastry mince pies, unbeatable. but they have to be hot. my mouth is watering thinking about them.
but so far have only had m&s ones this year. not the best...
price: can't remember, but it was 2 for 1
appearance: good
mincemeat: pretty good
pastry: too much of it, not a great texture

oooh, another grandma tip...
add a finely chopped cooking apple to the mincemeat. makes it more moist and tasty somehow, and it goes further....

I have to hold myself back until December to start the mince pie consumption, it could get out of control otherwise.
The best are home made for sure.
Or free, can't turn down free fuel

grandma's pies are always the best - she's got the cold fingertips required for perfect pastry making.
I've just had my first one of the year and they are clearly the best thing about the festive period.
The concept is simple.... Rate your mince pies.
Morrisons "The Best" Deep fill Mince pie.
Price: £1.69 for 6
Appearance: Good size, and solid looking. Snow flake and crystalised sugar aesthetic.
Pastry: Nice and firm, doesn't overly crumble, idea for desk munching. Possibly a bit stodgy.
Mince: Good amount of mince, large fruity bits, maybe a little to processed, not earthy enough.
