I've been following your posts and guessed a bunch of these were about to come.
I think you might want to donate to the forum if your going to be repeatedly selling.
And I've said that alot nicer and calculatedly than it could/ would've been said.its just a suggestion

To double guess Eyebrows, the first selling post was preceded by a series of "Wow!" type posts that appeared to simply be there to bolster a post count to allow CC to start new selling threads.
It's fine to come and sell stuff, but I'm sure he'll be financially contributing to the boards anyway...

Thanks for the kind words. I haven't technically sold anything yet... Only just placed classified ads this morning.

I think what Eyebrows is referring too is that you are of course more than welcome to LFGSS, but that it is traditional that if you are selling a large amount of stuff on here, that you make a donation to the forum (see buy the forum a beer) in return. People who come on here just for commercial purposes, and don't contribute, are usually show the door pretty quick.
Some seriously nice frames you have there!

I replied to BR, but my internet crashed-
basically:
here selling to a captive audience of bike nuts is invaluable to people selling specialist stuff.
ebay doesn't come close.
ebay costs money, here doesn't.
all the big sellers- and judging early this dude is going to be selling some super nice top end stuff that i wish i could have in my collection (thankfully this alan is too big)- organicorigin, hillarystone, JD- have made the donation because they understand that the forums resource is incredible- much more valuable and cheaper than ebay, they take home all the cash at the end of the day, not lose some to eBay.I have sold a bunch and the only reason i have a star next to my name is everytime I sell something here rather than ebay I'm happy to donate the fee as it is easier and the people are on the whole more reliable.
otherwise I don't really give a shit.

Personally, I think contributing to the forum is a personal choice; it certainly shows good form, and it's a positive thing - but for other forum members to passive-aggressively threaten new posters into doing so is a bad look, especially before they've even sold one bike.

passive aggressive my arse.
i can see why you'd want to defend your suggestion for this person to come here, but I in no way threatened them.
I don't see the relevance of him not selling anything- I stated- clearly- that if he is repeatedly going to sell, that I'd suggest a donation.
And I like the fact you agree with me.it certainly shows good form, and it's a positive thing
now go back to your wikipediaing of basic psychology and I'll see you at the Vegan Christmas party, where I can buy you a drink.

Come down off your high horse you pompous prick!
I've no problem with people coming on here just to sell stuff. But I think it's a common courtesy to bung the server fund a donation if you do so as you're getting access to a captive, knowledgeable and quite wealthy potential market for free.

chur.I do agree with your basic point, but come on, read back:
I think you might want to donate to the forum if your going to be repeatedly selling.
And I've said that alot nicer and calculatedly than it could/ would've been said.Same goes for matey above:
People who come on here just for commercial purposes, and don't contribute, are usually show the door pretty quick.
I wouldn't WANT to contribute to a place that makes me feel like a twattish belm as soon as I try to post something, even if it is only a sales thread. Know what I mean?
Won't be making the 222 xmas thing (too many other xmas parties at the same time) but I'll be at one in the new year for sure - need as much help as I can get, my cooking skillz0rs are fucking abysmal right now. In return for recipes I'll buy a lot of things, including porn, fyi. :D
Come down off your high horse you pompous prick!
Don't make me cunt you right in the bastard, you appallingly vile clunge.
THAT'S how you swear, mate.

And again I couldn't agree more but it doesn't require 'do this and I could've been much nastier' and 'people like you are shown the door quickly' - just a gentle prod is enough.

actually I wasn't saying I could've been nastier.
I was getting in there before another forum member did- and trying to make it a gentle suggestion as possible
should have explained that better.
for that misunderstanding I apologize. -

Nice frame though

A donation is perfectly understandly everyone, I am not an opportunist and who's only solo purpose is to make money of the back of this website, I will of course make a donation if is totally fair and feel that the forum is entitled to a contribution. Sincere Ian

I figured you would Ian.
I've sold a frame to Ian, the De Rosa he's now selling, and he's an enthusiastic and passionate bike nut who was a pleasure to deal with.
