  • I UTFS and trawled the internet and there's quite a few courier/messenger bags i like the look of but they don't come with a x-strap which is going to be a pain in the ass if it keeps slipping round whilst riding.

Any suggestions for a reasonably priced bag (<£50?) that has a x-strap. Alternatively is it worth trying to add a x-strap to one of the bags i have my eye on?

  • North Face have a few around that price, its unlikely ou'll get anything handmade for that praice...

  • F7, just saying...

  • i got a chrome mini metro for 50gn second hand.

You're taking about a stabilizer strap, an x strap is a stabilizer strap + an additional strap that goes over the top of your other shoulder, like this:

There are very few "cheap" bags that come with a full x strap, its normally a feature of higher end "professional quality" bags, but many come with a stabilizer strap.

  • ah yes that is what i meant. the stabilizing strap stops the bag slipping over right shouder and i imagine the x strap distributes the weight better over both shoulders

  • Yeah apologies guys, i did indeed mean a stabilizer strap, doh!

Any leads on a cheap-ish bag with a stabilizer strap in that case ;-)

  • EDIT - found some smart North Face ones that come with a stabiliser strap, cheers Dracula!

  • It might seem redundant, but had you looked in the Courier Bags thread? Even if all answers cannot be found there, its a good first stop, even just for referencing.

  • Surely it has both?

  • I went for the North Face large messenger bag, its exactly what i have been looking for and within budget;

    +1,

    from,

  • I got myself a nice discount on a Crumpler bag from the shop on the Strand. Would recommend them

  • That bag doesn't have an x-strap.

    Yes it does, numpty.

  • Unless you're calling one of the most reknowned manufacturers of messenger bags in the world a liar?

    http://www.pacdesigns.com/x_strap.htm

  • Well as someone who has owned a Pac Ultimate, and who now owns an Archies bag similar to the one above except bigger, I can tell you it DOES have an X-strap, and the only difference between the archies and the Pac X-strap (construction quality and buckles used etc aside), is the Archies straps have more padding.
They both fit and secure themselves around the body in exactly the same manner, you really are talking out of your arse.

  • The image of the archies bag is even titled Arches grobag with X-strap, are you really that thick?

I have the black one of this - Its lasted well thus far, the material is super robust too for a cheaper bag.

  • I hope your Archie's bag is big enough to carry these then, because that hole you're digging is getting deeper and deeper.

Yeah...actually I got the Theo, which is the biggest one they do, not sure I can fit a ladder in though.......

  • I fear there is a difference of opinion regarding what an 'x-strap' is here...

  • If you think i'm wrong, please show me what you think an x-strap is, and then tell me what the difference is between your x-strap, and what everyone else thinks an x-strap is.

  • Because funnily enough, the x-strap on my archies bag, fits the description of the Pac X-strap too, exactly the same then no?......
Or are you talking about the new X2™ straps with free superheros included:

  • Ah I sent the wrong bloody link haha!

I can't believe I didn't click on it to check haha, 2 seconds!

  • Oh dear...now you're making yourself appear even more childish...mocking AND a lack of knowledge.

I don't just appear childish, I am childish.....

actual pic I meant to post, you can't see the x-strap in shot, but you can see where it connects:
