Lacing a rim with paired spoke holes

Posted on
  • Someone has asked me if there is anything that needs to be taken into consideration when lacing rims (3X pattern) with the holes not spread evenly over the rim but rather with pairs like in this photo:

Instinctively I would say, you would need to adjust the spoke length. I tried thinking about it but couldn't really work it out.

Suggestions? Thoughts? Or simply use the same spoke length you would for an ordinary rim?

  • Can't be of any help but i have a similar conundrum in that I have a pair of 32h shimano 600ax hubs to build into wheels for my road bike where the holes ont hubs are in pairs. Also all spokes exit on the outside of the hub apparently. Do paired rims go with paired hubs usually?

Seen wheels built on paired rims somewhere before, will search. They looked ace.

No matter what length of spoke you use your bike will look like a unicack.
