actually, there are smaller frames (orange Ruxleys) that we are flogging on 1st Jan probably a few 54s in there.

they're probably very much not 531

    sob again. i'm in amsterdam.

They're actually pretty light (given that the wheels and tyres are mostly heavy) so probably better than 531, which as we all know is an obsolete medium grade tubing with no particularly outstanding properties other than the ability to make people who know nothing about frame building part with their cash.

  • heh heh.. has anyone got a good idea of their age Rob? I'm actually quite interested, even though I figure the whole bike will need dismantling..

they are mostly for 27" wheels, (although they all have 700c on now) which gives you a certain idea but they range from the 60s to the 80s. They are all reasonably well maintained, but yes, I would go over them. Some of the tyres are a bit old and one has a stuck seat post. Think winter beater or polo...or with some tweaks a reasonable track bike. The forks are drilled for brakes, but you'd need long drop.

apart from the ones built by his brother, the mysterious Harry O.

  • are these the kind of fixed gear bikes that do skids?
