Are you sure it's not calico? That's a type of woven cotton, which would fit.

Every site iv'e seen says Calicot. Might be some propriety form of calico made by veloflex ?
i can't see Calico being puncture resistant at all.

Sounds like a trademark or nickname for something. Calicot is french for calico, a woven cotton. Not much cop for tyre protection?
Ok just bought some nice Veloflex Servizio Corsa tubs and it got me thinking, what is *** Calicot puncture resistant layer*** that this tyre employs?
It's not that important, just a geeky curiosity.
Sure, i've heard about Kevlar and Aramid puncture protection, but never Calicot.
i have Googled but perhaps not enough. It'll be interesting to find out.
