Geek Question - What is Calicot ?

Posted on
  • Ok just bought some nice Veloflex Servizio Corsa tubs and it got me thinking, what is *** Calicot puncture resistant layer*** that this tyre employs?

It's not that important, just a geeky curiosity.

Sure, i've heard about Kevlar and Aramid puncture protection, but never Calicot.

i have Googled but perhaps not enough. It'll be interesting to find out.

    thanks

    Dylan

  • Are you sure it's not calico? That's a type of woven cotton, which would fit.

  • Every site iv'e seen says Calicot. Might be some propriety form of calico made by veloflex ?

i can't see Calico being puncture resistant at all.

    You need working on boy...

  • Calico Cats was a great song by those crazy phools New Kingdom.

Sounds like a trademark or nickname for something. Calicot is french for calico, a woven cotton. Not much cop for tyre protection?
