Good luck mate... That looks like an accident waiting to happen. Why don't you sell the parts that are still road worthy and bin the rear hub.
-
• #3
nice welding, you sure that will hold up to some pressure?
-
• #4
yep, being ridding for a month without brake, skid stop, not a problem.
-
• #5
where are you based?
-
• #6
london bethnal green.
-
• #7
How do you skid stop without any Toe-clips might i ask?
-
• #8
Your only evidence that it will hold is that it hasn't broken so far, I'd need something a little more scientific before I rode that brakeless. Also, what happens when the cog wears out?
-
• #9
has the hub only have one side threaded or are both side of the hub threaded? i am not interested in buying but might help with the sale of the bike
-
• #10
rosmal,
to skid stop have to use toe clips but currently the toe clips is on my other bike..
sparky,
currently is a brand new surly 19th cog,... it's going to take ages for the rear cog to wears out.to joao24,
the hub is double sided, the other 1 is for the freewheel cog. thanks for the help. -
• #11
dibs cranks if split.
-
• #12
Nice welding, now is the hub steel and the cog steel too?
-
• #13
Surly cog is made of steel (it would be fun if it was nickel, though)
-
• #14
welding the sprocket to the hubs is an extremely unsafe and idiotic way of fixing a problem.
-
• #15
But it's a proper fixed gear now
-
• #16
ItΒ΄s very close to become the new Gorgeous Baby Blue Fixieβ’
-
• #17
Dibs on the welds if [strike]they[/strike] split
-
• #18
dibs on wheel set if you split
-
• #19
that's about as fixed as fixed gear get's right there...
-
• #20
Permanently fixed. People will probably shorten it, annoyingly, to Pixies.
"Hey man, nice Pixie," they'll say.
-
• #21
yes sparky,
permanent fixed, fixie pixie... : ) -
• #22
so if you have a large clearance version for doing 108's off stairs would that make it a Trixie Fixie Pixie?
-
• #23
Indeed. You could make a girl's version; a mixte trixie fixie pixie.
-
• #24
One for a very tall girl; a mixte trixie fixie pixie (60cm)

I don't know Ed, why so negative? Welding the sprocket to the hubs has fixed many problems in my sex life and regular life. Don't knock it till you've tried it I say. Only the other day said to missus i said, "hey you know what would fix this problem? welding the sprocket to the hubs". We've never been happier! Welding the sprocket to the hubs FTW!
P.s. I'm very tired.
hi here i have my own project raleigh 56cm, respray, langster wheelset(both wheels runing true),52th chainring, new surly 19th 3/32 cog, sram chain, japanese made crank, tange headset, gb drop handlebar, velo plush saddle. i had weld the surly cog on the hub as the lock ring tread is gone (show on the photo). haven't got time to look for the front brake, hence the price Β£190. thank you.
