Targets and all that!

There's a little footbridge over the canal between Primrose Hill and the entrance to the Broadwalk in Regents Park. I often use this as part of my route into work. Now I know I'm not strictly supposed to cycle over it so I always check if there's any peds before doing so and if not I'll still just crawl over at snail's pace and if there are then I'll dismount. Anyway I was doing this last week, there was nobody there, except for..... the THREE POLICE that stepped out FROM BEHIND A WALL and busted me for it!!! I explained how happy I was that my taxes were being so well used in the fight against real crime and the WPC actually said the following words...

'Well you know how it is.... targets and all that'

SPEECHLESS

Anyway, just thought I'd warn you because they were there again this morning so they've obviously realised they've found a rich little trap! Fortunately I was once bitten twice shy and didn't contribute to their 'targets and all that' today!!!

Yeah I used to take that bridge all the time, and have had police hiding behind the wall / hedge too. Talked my way out of a fine, but now I just take the main road past the army barracks instead of taking the outer circle: quicker, less traffic and better road surface.

I wish it had been sarcasm man. Not even a trace of it tho! Actually i think she was trying to placate me by acknowledging that I wasn't really doing any harm or putting anyone in any danger and that it was just about their targets. But that makes me feel so much worse!!

imagine, 40 coppers on the tate side of the millennium bridge of an east -> west bridges ride.... fair few tickets i reckon ;)

We'd absolutely have to kidnap them and leave them trussed up with innertubes.

I guess the only thing to do is get arsey and run, maybe knock a coppers hat off and punch some innocent bystanders on the way, then it becomes a real crime which they will do fuck all about.
