When I was a kid I remember this in Palo Alto, CA...
Is the UK one as good for foodstuff, never been.
I suggest, if you're spending hte extortionate prices in WFM, go to your local farmer's market instead, and buy from there.
Reduction of carbon footprint FTW! -

Their ice cream's superb and the wine department is sublime. A bit rich on the fruit and veg though.

Tescos is cheaper.

ha - Tesco!
i dont shop in there often, my girlfriend does cause she has a crazy diet and HFM has a lot of what she needs. We do also shop locally; butchers, indie organic places, groceries n that, but HFM does some things surprisingly cheap.
It's just hard to find somewhere to shop that does good food for you and doesn't fuck someone over somewhere else. It's hard to gauge whether or not it's true because the media loves a good dog fight.
It's just pushing me ever closer to fucking off and setting up my own farm.....
Lord House
Ace House or...

I'd shop in butchers, bakers and candlestick makers if I could, but lack of time, lack of money, and lack of any of them things near me prevents it. Boo.

For organic and specific diet needs try the smaller health food stores like Mother Earth or Bumblebee. There's also Planet Organic which seems ok but not sure where they stand...

i thought planet organic, fresh n wild and WFM were all the same business?
Where is bumblebee?

Of course Tesco are cheaper - they're arse-fucking their suppliers. It's not the case that WFM are more ethical, they're just slightly less unethical. The purchaser and the supplier are at either end of a long corporate chain where everyone takes a slice. I'm all for WFM because I'm happy to pay a little bit more knowing that the grower is being slighty less screwed.

As long as my shopping's cheaper, I'm cool with that.

Bumblebee's just off Camden Rd, on the road that goes to Tufnell Park. 3 (?) different shops on the same stretch of road.

They could be. It has that feel.
There should be somewhere in your area.
Whole Foods are a supermarket. It's convenient.

you'll die quicker though.
and many children around the world will die quicker too.
:)
although i firmly believe this, we're all guilty of 'having' to shop at cunty outlets like Tescos from time to time.

The previous owners now run Earth Natural Foods on Kentish Town Road.

Besides, Tesco are shithouses because of the underhand methods they use for property acquisiton and the fact that they flatten the local infrastructure. They open and your local friendly guy who ordered a specific magazine and stocked the most bizarre selection of stuff closes down etc etc. Besides, Tesco always manage to employ slack-jawed knuckle-dragging cretins who think that a pot noodle is the height of culinary excellence.

Everyone else shops there, so I guess we'll all die early together.

indeed, but remember don't group yourself with the majority of people.
the majority of people are disgusting things.

i'd like to point out whole foods are also a massive supplier and will also gouge the producers to maximize their profits. organic capitalism is the same as non-organic capitalism.

My brother says that most of it's technically not particularly organic. There are too many versions of what organic produce actually is. "Twice as much and it's still covered in mud."
