It's especially pleasant to ride in the rain without mudguards, when you currently own a set of mudguards but haven't quite got round to fitting them as they are too fucking cumbersome to fucking fit on.
When I got home I looked like my water had broken.

Yeah its been a wet few weeks. But it really doesn't rain here as much as 'they'd' have you believe. Whoever 'they' are.

Good for crud catching and precious little else. You're better off with a set of raceblades.
Rain pants are also handy if a little dorky looking.

Typically, measurable rainfall (an amount of 0.2 mm or more) occurs on over 250 days per year over much of the Highlands, decreasing to around 175 days per year on the Angus, Fife and East Lothian coasts. In comparison, the driest part of Britain, along the Thames Estuary in south-east England, averages around 150 days per year with measurable rainfall.

In a year it's got to me more like 20.... maybe I'm just unlucky, but I do ride for nearly two hours 5 days a week.

It's a bit of a bastard hanging all your kit out to dry at work, but I'm looking forward to ending a busy week with a soaking wet ride home, then straight into a hot shower.

I know what you mean, but I prefer to have a flake in an overfilled bath with the taps running while listening to enya.

Your bike always looks shit.

I don't understand the obsession with mudguards, surely fixie skidders just weave in and out of the raindrops? that is why they ride like that, isn't it?
-

You should know, you're the pin up for fixie skidder with your bad boy image. You're like Mel Gibson in mad max.

Yes Tommy, I am just testing them...

TOP TIP
Want to keep your arse dry, but don't like your bike looking gay with mudguards (like owenreed's?)
Loosen the strap on your waterproof messenger bag so it hangs right down just past your saddle. This works a treat.

Haven't worn neoprene overshoes in ages, with goretex trousers and hat, I did look a total "communter", but even my feet were driza-bone

Got Cruds the other day and they're fairly discrete. Still not enough clearance to fit them on my lo-pro, but got them on my Sunday bike.

No, it's all about brakless in the nude for 09/10 season
i've been pretty much soaking all week cycling about town. it has rained a hell of a lot.
what keeps me smiling is this brilliant statistic from tfl.
"It's drier than you think - if you ride year round, you're likely to get caught in rain only eight times. February and March are two of the driest months."
i reckon i've got wet at least 8 times this week.
should be dry for the next foreseeable future.
