Most of the comfort comes from how much they can flex, having said that I've got a gel version as it used to be on an alu frame with immensely stiff rear stays.

I've tried both, and use the normal one. I find the gel one more uncomfortable. The normal one flexes nicely.

Specialized have recently released a carbon railed version of the Toupe. I've been riding it for a few weeks (I've had a few ti railed ones over the years) and found it to be just as good as previous versions. Best thing is it weighs 120g and costs £100.
Anyone else got one? opinions?

Does it come in white?
/google fail. it does, and it looks tidy.
I quite like the toupe, but I can't see myself upgrading from my Ti ones to carbon rails.

Yea i know, the toupe is bloody awesome anyway, just good to know they make it if you ever want to lighten/stiffen it up!
-
• #7
Definately regular, the gel is too much
-
• #8
Toupe does seem to fit those with no arse whatsoever, speaking from personal experience
-
• #9
love the toupe, have them on both my road bikes
the never version is definitely more robust, the old ones lost the nose far to easily
carbon white is looking v tempting

I think the new one is taller, which means it doesn't work for me.
-
• #11
taller?

• #12
Are the rails round on the carbon ones?

Have you tried one of these:

Taller how? Rails to top of 'seat'? If so, it may be just what I need after all...
-
• #15
have you and digger got ISP's?
if not can, you not just adjust the seatpost height?

Exactly.

It was exactly the right height for one of my bikes which has a frozen seatpost.

Black Toupe old style in 143?
-
• #22
we have the same arse dimensions
my black one is of the new type, white one is the old type
-
• #23
nb both used, the black one is scuffed from walls and murtle being a clumsy cnut
-
• #24
A bikefit on Monday will confirm whether my ISP is just right or frustratingly-mm-below-right, after which I may well be jettisoning some gear and acquiring a taller toupe.

White's not me, Mate.
After trying half the saddles in Evans, seems a Spesh Toupe fits the contours of my finely chiseled arse quite well. Before I tear up the receipt, has anyone tried the regular version against the gel version - much more comfy or not really worth it?
