I'm not the violent type has to be said... We were both standing there with respective locks in hand so would have been a good bout though... Would prefer a race off any day.... Not on the steamroller though :-)

Bike top trumps!

You can't slate a steamroller. Especially if you're so passe' as to rock a spok.

Steamroller trumps lopro, any day.

• #9
Yeah Nhatt exactly, lopro trend lag fail. This (was) is Shoreditch my friend!

Mr Ian Brown signed 650 arrospok = Minus 50 Dorrah

What was Ian Brown doing signing an arrospok? Of all things...

Am I right in thinking that Surly is a cool brand? An untouchable blend of youthful rebellion and grey-bearded pragmatism favoured by cycling-capped, flesh-tunneled 'insiders'?
-
• #13
Nope, plain gauge steel made in Taiwan - I love my Steamroller though.
-
• #14
Arrospoks are cool...
BTW What are flesh-tunneled 'insiders', please?
-
• #15
I have to say I fucking love my steamroller. Been riding a Dolan precursa all summer with a massive GI, built the Surly about a month ago and haven't looked back. Big up steamrollers....

being a 650 it was the only thing he could reach.
-
• #17
Surly's are cool, mostly because they...err...aren't.
In the last 6 months I've turned mine into a dutch bike, a track bike (for the track) and a single speed cyclocross bikes. You must love something that will take all of my weight and still be happy after 6 months of heavy beating...I've cracked the two bikes I've had before this one.

Kids with big ears, but not like the big ears you have.
And you KNOW that the spok isn't cool....I like you because you rock it anyways.

to be fair, a signed Aerospoke is pretty wank
I would have backed you up

Does Ian Brown ride a bike?

Actually the funny thing is (and what Mr 650 Monkey King signed rim doesn't get) that I actually own a Spok.... Had it been 3 months ago that we had this petit tet a tet he'd be telling me that my shitty old carbon dirty spok was no match for his little wheel... Funny the way things go
-

Yeah OPer you shouldn't apologise. For any of the reasons above.
Am I right in thinking that Surly is a cool brand?
Yes, despite being plain gauge steel made in Taiwan - I love my Steamroller cos its a beast.
fixed Mak.

Does Ian Brown ride a bike?
Yeah, backwards.
Unlocking my bike outside the The George and Dragon on Crackney Rd last night I met a chap with a fixie wheeler bicycle with a 650 aerospoke on the front. I can't remember exactly how we started but it transpired that the gentleman in question had the aforementioned wheel signed by non other than singer Ian Brown. For some reason an argument ensued which culminated in this gent slagging of my (humble) Surly Steamroller. I think i remember getting a little cheesed off and telling him that I thought his front wheel was a pile of crap especially as it was signed by Ian Brown.
Pointless thread you may think???? Not so!
I'd like to take the opportunity to apologise to Mr Ian Brown signed 650 aerospoke. No hard feelings sir. Like i say i can't remember why we even started talking, let alone why i made such ridiculous comments.... I do however have to say that my steamroller is not shit. It's a perfectly decent winter ride and great for absorbing the bumps and cracks that Londons roads are full of.
