Firstly, Converse all stars are not cycling shoes, leaving you with only three choices, one of which is northwave which are crap. The DHB shoes are budget and sidis are expensive, there's nothing in the middle.

I'll ignore the obvious pun and respond as if it was a serious comment, of course they are, the poll is not too dissimilar to those multiple choice competitions run on daytime TV.

Also, if you tuck the laces in to your shoe you avoid this problem.

I thought this would be a poll of best non-clipless cycling shoes. In which case, I would have nominated the Gola Capital:

Relatively inexpensive, sturdy double-layered construction where it counts (contact points with the pedals) and most importantly, very very low profile. This allows for a very snug fit in clips and straps, optimising power transfer. On my second pair of them now, after the first pair lasted for about a year of daily use, in all weather conditions (including snow). In fact, they were still perfectly usable but they just looked like threadbare pauper shoes, and had gone from being white, orange and beige to being dirty black and brown.

the soles are too thick!!! gola capitals are better, and i have tried both. :)

I use these running ones if I don't ride clipless (normally I wouldn't be nowhere near Nikes) and they do the job - slim, thin soles, inconspicuous
