  • I was watching the X Factor last week (the shame, the shame) and to my horror and disgust, the generic presenter type person - Dermot O'Dreary I think it's name is - uttered the immortal words 'Everyone is on tenderhooks'

Moron!!! What would be the use in a hook that was fucking tender?!! It's tenterhooks you massive waste of space.....

Does anyone else have any commonly misspelt or mispronounced words or phrases that when heard, send them into an apoplectic rage of pedantry?

    Like pacific instead of specific........

Like when people try and use the phonetic alphabet but incorrectly. Not only that, but they insist on spelling it out for you

    "P for Peter........S for Summer.......Y for Yellow"

Grrrrr....just fucking say Papa and I'll know you mean fucking 'P' you fucking dipstick.......

  • "pacific instead of specific" guy here does shit like that on purpose. It's funny. Face killing otherwise.

  • PIN number, no it's just PIN you moron

  • I like making up my own phonetic alphobet

T for trombone, H for Hernia S for pacific

  • I like making up my own phonetic alphobet

T for trombone, H for Hernia S for pacific

    P for psychiatrist

  • hence why - why?

Not on my watch it doesn't damn you

  • :)

  • hence why - why?

Ha! Used to have a manager who used 'Henceforth' in emails all the time, like it was going out of fashion...totally out of context too....

  • 'could have cared less'...

    WHAT?

  • People who use would of instead of would have.

  • Irregardless.....

  • Why doesn't anyone starts threads that address my compulsive needs? Oh wait ...

  • People who use would of instead of would have.

    Top ten right there!

  • "What it is, is"

  • ATM machine does my head in lately.

  • Myself instead of me - it's not impressive and it doesn't make you any more important.

  • Quite and quiet

  • ATM machine, he he!!

  • 'can I get' as in 'yah, can I get a skinny latte'
I hate such americanism's slipping into everyday life, unless you are american of course

  • It would of been funnier, if it hadn't of had so much truth to it..

    Why I oughta...

  • Myself instead of me - it's not impressive and it doesn't make you any more important.

    Speak for you.

  • Quite and quiet

Do you think I'm a loud or quite person?

  • 'can I get' as in 'yah, can I get a skinny latte'
I hate such americanism's slipping into everyday life, unless you are american of course

Yeah this is rife in Scotland for some reason. I dislike this intensely
