Try the cobblers by Mornington Crescent tube... It's at the top of Eversholt Street next to a bike shop... Good people there and pretty reasonable, they do all sorts of repairs...

thread dredge:
Just got a pair of boots with leather soles that I'm thinking about giving a thin rubber sole for the winter. Can anyone recommend a good place for this? The shoes costed a fucking fortune so don't want to trust them with anyone
Anywhere east would be great, but i'm happy to ride across town to get a better service.
Also, is this something they can do as I wait or do I need to leave the boots with em?

you'll find plenty of cobblers central, and i am pretty sure they will have to keep them a day or two, but i'd say most cobblers are pretty damn good, so you won't have to worry, and there must be a lot of guys here who could recomend someone

Well Heeled on Bethnal Green Road.
Despite the pun they have put rubber soles over leather ones for me and done a good job, and I've been using them for years. You will have to leave the shoes with them, good jobs aren't done while you wait.

Fith Avenue Shoes on Goodge St is fantastic - the even told me how to look after the tips of my shoes etc. Proper old school advice.
Don't go to Timpsons though

Anybody got any Sarf Lunnon* recommendations? My favourite shoes need repaired but I've never used a cobbler before and I hate the idea of taking my precious boots in somewhere and then coming back a few days later to be told that there was nothing they could do and now they've gone to shoe heaven. I expect these fears are needless ones but they are fears, nevertheless.
*Please don't make me go north of the river

The place by London Bridge station has done me right for the last three re-soleings of my shoes.
On the junction of Borough high street and the road that runs to the Shard.

Oh, nicely - that's about 2 minutes walk from the office so couldn't be better positioned. I'll give 'em a whirl, thanks!

Has anyone used a cobbler to add something to thicken up the sole of an SPD shoe to stop it rocking on the pedals? Did it work?
I've got a pair of specialised bike boots, with velcro straps that thread through thin metal loop things sewn onto the boot. the top one, the one taking most strain has snapped. i've tried glue and stitching and been to a cobbler (my last hope) to no avail.
Anyone know of a cobbler who'd do such a small job (or have a spare granny with 'hobby craft' hands (mine are all passed on, amen)??? it'd be a pity to have to bin them as they're not that old.
