Is it acceptable, in this day and age, to use the word whene'er in a poem?

It's working on all the levels I want it to, but I'm having difficulty accepting its contemporary validity. And it's certainly not something I'd want to use often, which could make it even more incongruous.

It speaks to me of tights and codpiece.

Hard to say without the surrounding context and tone.

I tend to think that it would be OK nestled into some quite modern, urban language, since it's incongruity is pleasingly redolent of text speak abbreviations, and other spelling corruptions.

I've just had to stop myself using 'disguised', pronounced /diz-guy-zed/.

Isn't it westcountry for whenever? and followed by 'like'?

i prefer the slightly more menacing "whensoe'er". which of course you can rhyme nicely with "men's wear".
