  • Get Dolan, this is all.

  • On-One Macinato (or, whisper it, Foffa Prima) would probably make a better road fixed than either of them.

  • 'merkins, not merkins.

  • 2nd vote for the Macinato, if they've started selling it in sizes other than small again. Or if you'd want a small one anyway.

  • I want magical spokeless wheel.

  • I rather have an O-spok

  • I asked in CP a while ago but I don't think I got a response so I'll try here instead.

I currently run an oldish version of 10speed Ultegra on my TT bike but the whole bike is getting an upgrade and I'm thinking of switching to SRAM Force 22. Can I run a SRAM 11speed cassette on my existing (10speed) Shimano free hubs?

If it's just a case of using the same free hubs with the appropriate spacers then thats fine but if I need to faff about changing free hubs then I'll stick to 10speed.

  • The 11speed freehub is wider to fit the cassette so you'd have to change that. However I don't really see a problem in swapping freehubs when you're completely re-doing the drivetrain anyway..

  • I had read somewhere that the 11speed was in fact slightly narrower than the 10speed, but I might have got my wires crossed?

It's not a major thing, but the problem is that I'm only redoing the drivetrain on my TT bike and my road bike will remain 10speed. Since I often change wheels between them (racing/training/turbo) I'd rather maintain consistency across bikes.

  • Which is a shame because I really like the look of Force22.

  • Using a SRAM Force 22 crankset should be possible on a 10s drivetrain methinks. Just for the looks :)

  • I had read somewhere that the 11speed was in fact slightly narrower than the 10speed, but I might have got my wires crossed?

Yes, crossed wires. The 10-speed Shimano cassettes (apart from Junior gearing versions) are 1mm narrower on the rotor than the 9-speed ones, so you have to put a 1mm spacer on before the cassette.

  • Yes, that's where I got that idea from. I suppose they couldn't keep increasing the gears and decreasing the width infinitely...

  • Hi guys,

I need some help regarding mail merge. I need to create something where people are allocated into certain template letters.

    They are titled as follows:

    Your child is under weight...
    Your child is normal
    Your child is over weight
    Your child is obese.

The software will have data for height, weight etc... and it will work out the BMI.

I need to some how define certain BMI categories and the mail merge will work out whose name goes into what template.

I work in School nursing as the admin. The letters will be written by the nurses of course, so not to offend.

Is this possible at all? Thanks.

  • Ti Audax / road / (v) light tour bike, clearance for 28 + guards, Chorus groupset, H+ rims.

Question: disc or rim brakes? Are discs the future? Jump now or stick to tried and tested?

Rim: stfu and buy kinesis GF Ti V2 build wheels with white industries T11
Disc: burls + whiskey fork, build wheels with an as yet undecided hub as light as possible.

    Opinions most welcome.

  • Discs.
If you want 28 + guards you will have to use cantis / mini Vs / deep drop calipers.
Discs allow you adequate clearance and a host of other benefits.

  • Are discs the future?

    No, they are the present.

  • Hmmm. Ok, but BB7 don't seem to get amazing reviews. TRP HY/RD? I also feel that a disc build could end up quite weighty.

For rims, TRP RG957 seem well reviewed and would do the job with 28s & guards.

  • Save weight on the mudguards

  • I'm hoping to avoid wet feet / arse / everything with guards.

Suggestions for v light ones with good coverage and 35mm wide?

  • BB7 don't seem to get amazing reviews

    I can fix that.

I had a BB7 Road on the front of my Kona JtS, it was far better than any rim brake I tried on that bike.

  • Bang. That'll do then. Tester says BB7. Is a sub 9kg ti frame disc bike a reasonable target?

  • Or you could move away from the Campag and use hydraulic discs:

  • Is a sub 9kg ti frame disc bike a reasonable target?

It's achievable, but it's a mistake to target a weight. Get the bits which work best, and accept whatever it ends up weighing.
