  • So its Diwali, Curry tonight anyone?

What should people do during Black History month over here, or Martin Luther King Jr Day in America........eat watermelon?

lynx, you're a piece of work.

  • Ha ha ha. .

Its so funny to diminish what is one of the most important religious celebrations to millions.

    Japes!

  • Do you want any fish with that chip?

  • I dont get it.

  • My favorite curry vendor in London is actually Pakistani, and they're Muslords aren't they.

  • Do you want any fish with that chip?

BlueQuinn, was that directed at me? Or the OP?

  • Actually Chanukah is coming up in a couple of months, how about a Jewish Deli Ride?

  • So is Christmas, how about a Sleigh Ride AMIRITE???

    I'm cracking myself up here!

Sounds good, give us a rundown on the culinery delights on the itinery.

  • Bacon

  • Pork? :P

  • I'm actually half contemplating it, my personal favourites from my youth include the following:

    Bread pudding, fecking awesome!
    Sweet Fishballs
    Beigels of course
    Smoked Salmon
Latkas (kinda like a jewish take on a hashbrown but quite different)
Halva (really nice sweet stuff that is based on sesame seed stuff, very rich)
    Onion beigels
Jewish style Cream Cheese (good shizzle!)
    Kosher Salmon Cutlets
Various other delights that I am trying to think of....

    That all sounds tres bon.

    Is there a traditional drink?

  • There should be chicken soup somewhere

  • The ride should be fancy dress. Hasidic outfits compulsory.

  • We might be mistaken for a Blues Brothers ride.

Nothing that was particularly common amongst more liberal Jews, although you can get some pretty cool kosher/Israeli fruit juice things, and of course the awful Kosher Wine, if you can stomach the stuff, its more like sherry than wine, or Dessert wine I guess.

Of course there is the famous Jewish style Chicken Soup of course, and gefilter fish (cheers Mark!), Pickled Gherkins were always a popular one...I never like them though.
    A few more:
    Chopped Liver
Egg and Onion (a weird Jewish type of Egg Mayonaise thing with less mayo, bit difficult to describe)
    Challah bread, very nice stuff!
    Matzah (unleavened) flat bread
Not sure if i'm missing anything else?

  • Farfel
    sufganiyah
    Tzimmes or tsimmes
    Babka

  • We might be mistaken for a Blues Brothers ride.

    Now there's an idea...

We could even have a world record pile up in the middle!
