  • Who on here apart from the experienced roadies know about saddle comfort? I bet most poeple ride 5-10 miles a day in jeans on a fucking OTP saddle.

Obligatory courier chip in, saddle comfort is even more imporatant when you've got 15kg in your bag ;)

  • Brooks, Brooks, Brooks, Brooks, Brooks, Brooks, Brooks, Brooks, Brooks, Brooks...

    Fuck Off!

  • I've got a few different ones for different applications (although 3 of them are SLR variants).

I can get comfy on all of them because:

    • I've set them up properly
    • I sit on them properly i.e. I don't 'sit'
    • I don't stay long in one position
    • I'm better than you*

    *'you' meaning 'hippy'

    • I sit on them properly i.e. I don't 'sit'

    I'm intrigued...

  • It's not a 'seat', is it, contrary to contemporary trans-Atlantic vernacular.

You're better than my left little toe. But I've never liked that one anyway.
The rest of me.. waaaaaaaay more betterer than you.. waaay more betterer!

I probably weigh more than you with the bag.. it's your bony arse that's the problem.
Get a nice office job where you don't move and fight off the boredom by comfort eating and you'll have a fine padded arse that will suit most saddles. :)

I'm guessing you mean you're not supposed to just plonk your entire weight on the saddle and let it support the dead weight of your body?

No. It's a saddle. Ever seen a horse race?

  • I probably weigh more than you with the bag, full stomach, lead weights in your shoes and a small child on your shoulders.. it's your bony arse that's the problem.

    Phicksed

I understood, I was just making sure. If I rode like that all day I would have no perineum and my balls would probably be supporting my stomach by now

    Horses ride bikes?

  • borrow your mates saddles....of course with their blessing and preferably while their not riding it!!

  • Horses ride bikes?

    Neigh.

  • **How do you actually pick a comfortable saddle?**

sit on it, ride it and see. It's the only way. I myself tried loads including the arione, rolls, vitesse, toupé, and many more, and just recently tried the SLR, and the slr wins by a fair margin, it's super comfy, even though its paper thin.
    2nd would be the toupe
    3rd would be the rolls

  • 2nd would be the SLR T1
3rd would be the SLR XP

    :p

  • The saddle's only half the story - a good pair of shorts is the other

  • 2nd would be the SLR T1
3rd would be the SLR XP
    :p

Since you're gonna be a spacky next year.. can I have your T1?

  • 2nd would be the SLR T1
3rd would be the SLR XP

    :p

lol that may be the case, but i haven't tried those yet

  • Just fitted a Rido R2, hope it's as comfortable as they say it is cause it ain't pretty. Started doing weekly 40+ miles weekly rides again and getting some numbness from my flite titanium saddle as having to sit in the saddle more than before till I get fitter/lighter.

Update: Ridden about 5 miles on it so far, feels a bit like riding on the back of a Brooks saddle, all the weight goes on the sit-bones would not call it a comfortable saddle like others do, but no NNS with it. Provides a firm base to apply pedalling power. Would not recommend unless having problems with conventional saddles, don't think I'll be sticking with it for long.

22 Oct: Ditched the Rido already, have now fitted a WTB Comfort V Sport Saddle 2009, this design works very well for me, will try a more upmarket WTB when this wears out.

  • Was your Flite tilted forward?

People often tilt their saddles too far forward and it makes you slide onto the nose with your soft undercarriage. This is bad.

  • Just ordered a Rido R2, hope it's as comfortable as they say it is cause it ain't pretty. Started doing weekly 40+ miles weekly rides again and getting some numbness from flite saddle.

i really dont get what they are trying to achieve with this saddle at all.
Why is there a protruding Brand badge right in the area where you would least want it.. as for the elevated cushions at the back... i dunno, looks bollocks to me.
but anyway let us know how it is after using it. I'd be interested to know.
