  • Uses the White Industries splined cog system. Tidy.

They can convert an old powertap for $500 if $1600 for whole systemis a bit steep :D

  • I like the look of these:

if the write ups true they'll be lighter, simpler, cheaper and just as accurate as the other systems out on the market. Way easier to use on multiple bikes too. Not sure what the trackies opinion of speedplay pedals is though, they do a track model which is interesting but most people seem to use the old shimano pedals.

  • Speedplay is a fucking ace system.

  • Scherrit is nearly finished with my old PT conversion to fixed.. should be a laugh..

He mentioned that Saris had just come out with or just suggested they were going to come out with a conversion (correct me if I'm wrong) for their new style hubs (like the one above). I wonder if this is what he was talking about?

I want to hear about people using the new setups. If they are any good, it would give me an excuse to shuffle down the PTs since these ones are better sealed, hence more suitable, for a commuter.

Fantastic idea but until this system becomes compatible with a mainstream pedal system it will be little more than a curiosity.
When they get it to wourk with Shimano, look & time pedals then it will be successful but who the heck uses speedplay (or even wants to?).

    hehe bring me SPD-SL version!

  • Errr pro peleton use speedplay. Utfs.

  • And also myself and BDW. So suck it...

  • In case you think I wrote that.. it's a quote from your link.#

But anyway, it's still useless to me until it's in SPD-SL. Awesome idea though.

  • Yeah bike radar tools. Bovvered.

  • aaarrghhh, stupid cogs and allen bolts!

FFS, someone make one with a proper track hub which works with DA cogs and has 15mm track nuts like every sensible person uses

  • They do.. SRM. £2500 and you can run whatever frickin' wheels you want..

Garmin bought Metrigear yesterday; pedal based power meters with all the analysis of a Wattbike are on the way...

  • Nice - Rotating skewers!

  • haha!

  • Like I said, what, 12 months ago.. I'll believe it when I see it in a shop.

Pedal-based power metering would be awesome though.

  • Scherrit has a track powertap type hub

  • And?

What do you want, a paper hat?

  • Scherrit has a track powertap type hub

It's a conversion of one of the old style road hubs.

The same as the one I had and destroyed in a day.

Can I have a paper hat too, RPM?

  • Hippy

Why have you got a lookalike for BRM in your post?

He floats my boat, what else can I say?

  • Garmin Vector pedal based power meters coming to stores March 2012

  • i thought they were going to be made for speedplay pedals, or is that effectively just a shim that goes between any pedal and the crank?

  • bollocks based around look keo pedals

  • Garmin inhaled Metrigear or something. They were the ones that were talking about bringing this out in '09.. up there ^^
